I have know ldea what the deal is and that advert you have posted doesnt give a lot away.
We need to know the basic costs surely before dismissing the idea.
How much is the truck pw, the insurance, maintainence, parking, trl hire etc. With stobarts buying power even if they have a bit of commision it may work out better value than what an owner driver can get it for. What does it matter what kind and colour the bloody wagon is as long as your making money. As for the 12k start up cost, thats a pittance compared to what it costs to run a truck for 60 days till you get paid, it would barely cover the diesel bill let alone wages, deposit, insurance, etc. As for getting in drivers to cover your time of, surely that goes without saying, keep the bugger moving.
My point is unless we know the costs we dont know what it would be like. Sure, stobart aint doing it for anyones benefit but theyre own but i would imagine that they are savvy enough to know that for it to work
they need to make it worthwhile for the people that take up there offer.
And the only way to find out those costs is to go and talk to them, because anybody who does has to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so if you know and come on here spreading the info they can sue. So obviously somebody has taken a risk showing me the info, so I am certainly not going to pass it on further, at somebody else’s risk. At a meeting they will disclose all those pieces of information and more.
It wouldn’t be for me for a variety of reasons, not least that I have the T-shirt and don’t want another, but not because you can’t make a reasonable profit, not a fortune, but you would be hard pressed to find a tramping job paying more, or even as much.

in my opinion its because employing people can be a nightmare, they come to see you, in can do this, i dont mind being away friday, blah, blah blah… 3 months down the line, low and behold, they are whinging like babies, want home at 3 on a friday, 1st weekend in a services in france thats them flying home, shove your job up yer ar*e!

Wheelnut’s post answers most of the questions! Poster no 1 was the offer first put out to us Trampers employed by Stobart for a £5000 fee! As far as I’m aware no one took them up on the offer! A year later Stobart started shedding trampers in those areas! So maybe some did. 
Poster no2 was the advert placed in The Sun a few months later,gone to the public! 
Don’t know anything about the money though! They kept that a State secret!
