Agree or disagree with the strike by all means (and I suspect the majority crossing the picket line don’t even have a clue what the strike is about) but ffs fellas these folk on the picket line are taking part in legitimate industrial action against Victorian type mill owning robber barons and greedy share holders.
I would say that it’s the thin end of the wedge but sadly it isn’t, most of us here are the victims of laughable wages only made palatable by the huge amount of hours we do to put food on the table. So yes, these Tesco drivers had good wages and good T’ & C’s but they didn’t get given them, they’ve been fought for for years by workers who knew their worth to the company and simply demanded fair recompense for a fair days work.
Don’t let the politics of envy blind you to the fact that it could be you next…
im a company driver stobarts are paying subbies good money to pull out of there,if you aint happy with a job then leave and find somewhere else to work simple…all the drivers on strike have been offered work there on another contract…but aint happy because they wont be able to boss the office staff around refusing to do a job, like they did when it was run by tesco the only muppets i see up there are the one’s stood in the cold clapping there hands what a bunch of ■■■■■ picket line or not i will cross as i enjoy my job plus i have a family to support and if tesco drivers are’nt careful ive been told this will happen at every tesco RDC through the country see you again 2moro morning boys

would just like to say i have enjoyed the last 2 days running trailers out of tesco doncaster getting called a [zb] and they clap every time you drive in remember this i may be a [zb] but this [zb] has a job and thanks for the hand clapping i know my driving is good lol
And while you was crossing picket lines your wife (g/f) was … (Imagination needed) …
Unfortunately just like the Tesco drivers are looking after themselves, maybe some of the drivers for ‘small’ hauliers or Owner Drivers going in also don’t have much choice other than in looking after themselves.
i notice that the op is from mansfiels/notts,well some things never change then as a child of the miners strike some of my family still call notts people scabs.

Thats how thick you Northern idiots really are then! The minors strike was never balloted properly! Scargil only balloted the Yorkshire miners yet expects the whole country to go out on strike, Nottinghamshire miners would have striked if the stupid ■■■■ had balloted the whole country. How can you expect people who didn’t get a say to go out on strike.
And yes I am in the union, yes I do believe in fighting for what you think your worth and I also wouldn’t cross the picket line of a LEGAL strike!

yeah they fought for what they thought they were worth but they have maybe priced themselves out of a job at the same time?
I understand what you’re getting at re pricing themselves out of a job, but by who’s standards? We hear daily about how many millions these supermarkets make in profit, but where does the money go? I realise that some goes to store renovation and upgrading but the rest goes to the shareholders.
Yes, they have a right to a return on their investment, but at what cost? When is enough money enough?
there’s a going rate, in my opinion this rate is determined by every man and woman who has the means, eligibility and the ability to drive a truck in the uk. the rate is set when a similar amount people say they’ll drive a truck for that money, rather than do something else for the amount of driving positions in the country.
it doesn’t matter what side of the to strike or not to strike fence you sit, surely everyone can see if you’re being paid significantly more than the going rate and not in a specialist sector, then it might not last forever.
in the words of gloria from white men can’t jump " sometimes when you win, you really lose"
it does’nt bother me northern boy it’s just when uve got ur usual pricks on here ref it to the miners strike just shows ya what the average driver knows FERKALL its only a hand full of drivers IF ALL DRIVERS HAD A PROTEST BEFORE WE LET POLAND IN THE COUNTRY THERE PROBABLY WOULD’NT BE THIS POSTED ON HERE AS THEY HAVE TOOK MOST OF THE DRIVING JOBS AND PUSHED THE WAGES DOWN,BUT HEY LOOK AFTER NUMBER 1,IM PAYED WELL AND LOVE MY JOB

your a complete ■■■■■■■■■.
dont you understand that these people are on the picket line to try and salvage what is left of their jobs.
if youve never experianced what a strike can do to a man or his family then picture this.
when i was a kid back in the 70s & 80s my dad worked the coal trains around the midlands.
when the miners went on strike it wasnt to long before the railways followed suit.
my parents skimped and scraped to make sure us kids were fed and it was hard not just for my parents but also for us kids.
so just remember the next time you cross the picket line think about what these people are going through.
failing that i hope someone from the picket line sees you out 1 night and helps himself to rearraging you features.
