This bloke Nev has done 43 years there.
He still does Euro for them today on the F1.
He’s a mate of a mate of mine, (who he used to work with) I’ve met him at a Newcastle game.
He ain’t the Stobby brainwashed type as you may think either, in fact he’s a top bloke,.and a real gent.
‘Proper driver’ type in fact.
There’s a vid on you tube somewhere of him running Europe in the 80s, I’ll try and find it if anybody’s interested
Lol 43 year service paying him 9.50ph gets gifted a plate woohoo
He deserves a brand new car 21 plate
Verdict yes Stoddart is still crap

Look mate…I ain’t a Stobart fan either, nor their apologist , in fact I hate them tbh., but I have nothing at all against their drivers…the thread title was tongue in cheek, but you obviously missed that.
Fyi…he did get a few other things like his entire family all exs meal, and corporate tickets to certain events, with all exs paid.
I just thought whether you like Stobarts or not, that Nev was worth a mention and recognition, for his length of time there.
Neville was an ok bloke when I spoke to him, did he not drive a 6x2 daf drag at one time ?but different leaving gift than the old boy that drove the f7 drag back in the old days Eddie , gave him a new Ford ■■■■■■ car on retirement.

That would be Eddie Stobart himself was it?
It’s a bit different there now to what it was then I’m told.
I thought it was ok back in the early days on the cargo drags. , was definitely no them and us for sure .yup was Eddie ,still hands on in Carlisle yrd then ,wandering about chatting away asking if any problems on runs.

A bit pedantic but it’s not Euro F1, these are the units for the British superbike team.
I actually picked this unit up from Dartford a few weeks ago and delivered it to Appleton, this explains where it was going. There was a huge ■■■ burn on the driver’s seat.

Oh but it is F1 he’s on, he was on with my mate…not sure if its Mercedes or Pirelii…well as far as I know anyhow.
The truck in the photo ain’t the one he drives, he has a plain Merc, it was just used for the photo opportunity I suppose.
You’re maybe even right mate,.I’m just blagging it.
I thought DHL did the F1 stuff?
There are pirelli F1 units parked at Appleton but they are plain silver actros now.
I definitely took this unit there and they told me it was for a “special mission” and I was not to give the keys to the planners so it doesn’t get given out.
Still gave me 26 pallets of rice to pull behind it though
We were using these up until the end of last year at least and was told they were going onto scanias sometime this year. Am I doing it now ? no, would I do it again ? Absolutely not !
Oops, sorry chaps, first picture I’ve ever posted.
It was taken in Ashford truck stop BTW
Never been a Stobart basher as I’m of the type as horses for courses type of guy…
If it suits you and the hourly rates not as good as the next one,it’s a job and it pays your bills,if your happy then good on you…
It’s a nice touch that they even thought about doing this for him,I wouldn’t have thought the logistics giants like XPO,DHL e.t.c would ever think about doing anything like this…

Fixed it for you, I’m guessing you have an iphone? They are notorious for posting sideways or upside down in e-mails and forums, no idea why though.

The only way to get a photo to appear the right way when using an I phone/pad is to hold the device horizontally or lengthways (if that makes sense) and use your right thumb on the shutter release.
Thanks for the help and tips gents

I had a long service award after 40 years with Wincanton, quite a lot of stuff actually. Ironically, 35 of those 40 years were before I was TUPE’d to them with the company whose transport they took over.
You’d have thought such a prestige unit would have been specced with a sun visor ffs. I reckon MAN’s and Mercs look OK without somehow but Next Gens never.
Any one on here actually work or got a recent start on Stobarts?
Looking to pick someone’s brains … Cheers
Well if he’s done 43 yrs working for Carlisle he wants a ■■■■■■■ medal , I was told to leave my lorry at Boston on the Friday night( 1 st shift planned by them ) & there would be a hire car to get me back to Newark , I ran out of hours between kings lynn & Boston on the fri night & when I got to Boston on the sat morn apparently someone had already took the car , it started off badly & after a few weeks of those idiots it ended .
It was a toss up who was worse , them or Appleton , but 43 yrs doesn’t bare thinking about , I don’t think my battle scars will ever heal
Though this new lot arnt exactly endearing me too them
