Stobart Trucks & Trailers mega thread

Mark dixon… He doesn’t love himself too much does he!

him and his puppet mate who talks out of the side of his mouth and cant decide what job he wants. ( the battersea basher )

mucker85:
@ mickyblue. Yeah, signalling and moving over with a car beside him.

Not just me then  i did a rewind on the HD box to make sure

Only watched a couple of the early shows but what shocked me was the standard of their drivers especially the guy cacking himself about a narrow bridge with only a foot spare on each side and the idiot moving the horses and the idiot who put him on a horse box when they have an experienced girl who’s not terrified of her load.

just watched harry hill on itv player and nearly choked on my kebab!

mark dixon uk’s most well known truck driver?

would have thought peter sutcliffe beats him!

Does this programme show the true nature of our industry? Probably not, However going by the number of purile, childish , abusive and offensive posts I have to remove from this thread and the other one, it probably shows the public a better image of members of our industry than some of the members on here can manage. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

A lot of serial killers are, it’s where the old drive, drive, murder a prostitute, drive drive, murder a prostitue thing comes from.

Just watching it on 5 on demand…

I’m surprised that Stobart have continued with this programme as it makes them look stupid more times than not…

Well said, there is a lot of bandwagon jumping on these threads though. Stobart’s is safe ground for those ‘contributors’ who aren’t sure enough of their own opinions to say anything unless they are guaranteed to be agreed with by the majority.

Fwiw, I have no opinion either way on ESL. However, they are about the most positive public-facing side of our industry and that shouldn’t be overlooked. Anybody moaning about the show (and thats what it is a show) really doesn’t understand the world of television or entertainment. An average day in the life of an average trucker (whoever he works for) would be bloody dull. Most of what they filmed for EST&T is bloody dull so they liven it up for telly, like SKY football adverts or extra-long pauses on X-Factor results, its all about the show. Someone quietly negotiating the North Circular or earnestly explaining the merits of i-shift over AS-Tronic might interest people on here but it doesn’t interest those people who tune in at 8pm on a Friday night and want a bit of entertainment to ease them into their weekend.

Well I found it very entertaining it’s more of a comedy show for me, how much respect will the trainer get from pupils from now on lol and how many drivers had to go round the block while he was sight seeing. Harry Hill I nearly wet myself,

would love to be able to watch it but cant due to being outside of UK that really [zb] me off missing good english comedy

Couple of posts above with a bit of common sense in them on a Stobart thread…whatever next, serious debates in RDC’s

It’s purely for entertainment although the narrator could wise up a bit.

Mark Dixon is just an ordinary driver who happens to be well known now. OK the fame might have gone to his head a bit but when I picked a load up last year he got his hands dirty like the other 3 of us and we all mucked in to get loaded.

Mo is a big gob - always has been and always will be.

Since I got made redundant and drive for someone else I have been acknowledged by other drivers, flashed in more, thanked more etc etc - I’m still the same driver as I’ve always been with the same mindset, I just don’t wear a well known green uniform :unamused:

Sometimes it’s a bit annoying though. I wanted a quiet pint last week but people (drivers) kept talking and acknowledging me as they went past - never happened when I worked for Stobart…everyone used to ignore me  :sunglasses:

mickyblue:
Was it me being blind, but didnt anyone else notice that ‘Tim Fox’ nearly take out a vehicle on the duel carriageway?

Nope, I spotted that too I think, the camera was on him as he changed lane, and you could see the car in his mirror braking to avoid colliding with him.

That the one you seen??

Don’t know why but this post tickled me

The Harry Hill sketch was excellent i thought, very funny. Fair play to Mark Dixon for going on the show. Not quite sure what the driver in London was doing?! You would think he was driving a heavy haulage vehicle through the streets!
I did watch the first series but dont watch the programme anymore. Not because i have anything against Stobarts, just dont watch it.
