Stobart Trucks & Trailers mega thread

browncow2:
why would i be in a room with him. this is my point. instead of admiring his profecionalism all you do is take the ■■■■. i,m sure if you were in a tv program all your fammily would all be sat on the sofa when it,s on.

Well 1st I’d have to dig me mom and dad up, cos’ they’ve been dust for years. Don’t know where my sisters live. Divorced from the wife. Ain’t got a telly!

browncow2:
this eddie stobart truck and trailors tv program bashing is all wrong. i,ve had the pleasure of meeting MARK DIXON and to me he was a totally profesional driver. he was a credit to his employer eddie stobart. i think all this jealousy has been put down to that [,it,s not me on the telly, look at that idiot] to MARK and his boss MR STOBART i take my hat off to you both for a very good tv program. don,t worry about the abuse it,s only drivers of less profecionalism than your drivers.

Why the ■■■■ would I be jealous of them green goblins? And why would anyone be jealous of a company who would build a lads hopes up and smash his hopes into little pieces. And to top it off they had the cheek to try talk to him after he got told he wasn’t on the apprenticeship. If that’s a company to be jealous of, then there would be a lot of sad people around I for one hope the lad has found work and is doing well as in my opinion was more than deserving than those other two pillocks they filmed combined.

I for one am not jealous, I work for a good company who give better benefits to their employees than Stobart would ever bother thinking about giving to their workers. Did you get them french knickers you ordered to give to Mark? As we had a massive order for them last week, Tesco’s finest as well :unamused:

Cheers

Despite the obviously poor directing of the TV programmes director, and the sometimes scary hatred of anything Stobarts do… I note that no-one has commented that at least they are offering to get guys their HGV licences and give them a start… the new and wannabe forum on here is full of requests of who will sponsor folks to get a licence or give a new licence holder a start… Stobart for all its percieved faults is at least putting its own money where its mouth is and training these guys and giving them jobs at the end.

It is obviously not a charity and there is some commercial benefit to Stobart by doing this, but they are giving the guys a chance, I dont see many if any other companies of a similar size or even bigger doing the same.

Moaning about a bit of dirt in his truck and folk are actually knocking that? I would say thats the kind of driver most employee’s would rather have than some driver who didnt give a flying f.

Shame some of the young candidates got a knock back especially the lad with the kid but that is part of life. Have you never been turned down for a job? Its not a charity :unamused:

This is the first chance i had to see the new series and not much has changed from the other series the narrator is still a complete muppet and needs to chill out… on a separate note with regards to Mr Dixon maybe ch5 should do a new series with him and vicky Marie from mothertruckers now that would be a show…

no children were harmed in the making of this post… :sunglasses:

Yes I have been turned down for jobs, but then again I’ve never had a camera in my face moments later asking me how I feel to make me feel even worse about myself, as well knowing millions of people see that I’m a ‘failure’ too to add the extra crap factor onto it. It’s not a charity like you said, but a little more respect could have been shown IMO.

this is the biggest load of crap i have ever seen
E.S. trying to copy britains got talent, american gots talent and all that type of shows thats all that is.
what the **** does he want to go wasting money on recruiting a kid up from scratch when they are millions of guys out there with years under there belt just crying out for a job.
As was previously said here or somewhere he laid off loads of drivers some worked for him for years with a clean record why not keep them on?
Is it a public relations stunt
or is it he can recruit yng guys and girls and pay them 3 or 4 pounds an hour while getting them to do the same as the regular guys do at half the price for a few years then get rid of them and have another load of recruits to come along through the ranks is this what it is all about and in the meantime reduce all our wages even more.
either its a pr stunt or cost cutting excercise thats about it.
and as for drivers getting pee ed off i dont blame them i not to long in the game i have trouble getting on bays etc but i drive in central london everday with a 25ft truck and caravan on the back and although i not a clue most days where i going and not great at route planning or reading maps i dont have all the drama s these guys in ES have.
So for me if the likes of dixon or mo come on here and say yeah we do it all for the cameras fair enough who wouldnt but to come on here and and try to defend themsleves well they def deserve all the abuse they get.
ES like all big company s do u think they really care about these guys they just a number they will be ran out the door in the morning when it suits and not a thought given about it.
The days of loyalty in multinational companys are long over my friends.
then majority of these get paid by the hour so if takes all the hours it takes so be it aint you getting paid for it unless u have a personal reason of getting home to wife kids etc and spending more time with them who cares if load gets rejected if it takes 10 hours to do a job that should take five because of delay that what was not your fault why should you worry u dont as driver get paid for this to worry but u do get paid for each hour it takes so the longer the better.
I could go on and on but rant over now who is going to disagree apart from the loyal ES drivers

The minimum wage for apprentices is £2.60 and if you read the advertisement for apprentices they’re advertising the bare minimum pay rate of £96 a week, but whether they pay more is another matter. But I doubt it which for the work your doing, is a bit of a kick in the teeth to say the last.

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

True. But if you can get 2 years experience and top up on benefits then you have half a chance of moving on to bigger and better.

Yes I did say there is bigger and better than ESL :-/

Now on second bottle of wine so forgive me but
OMG dar what planet are you on?
2 years experience on the rate that jonnny quoted 96 a week thats about 5k a year and after that what have u read the posts here ES run you out the door u back to agency day here and there
why not and i know its hard for a lot of young guys to do but if that dedicated stock shelves serve burgers etc save pay for your licence get it and then start get a few days here and there on agency to get used to things give false references to get over your two years just dont touch anything specialised keep it simple trunking shunting etc so you dont get too much of a difficult task to do but at least you get full pay or near enough it.
you will learn more that way then ES could ever teach you.
or other way you can get a little along the way is if on jobseekers eventually if you long enough on it they will put you through some or pay some of the way to get you trained up never mind a lot of the crap you hear they will if they think it will get you off jobseekers will take a while but u will get it.Get someone you know with a company to write you up a letter stating they will give you a job if you have class 2 etc produce that.

Just wipe the dust with a cloth and job done. No need for disposable dash wipes, silicone polish and all that crap. If you do a dirty job why stress yourself worrying about dust? Ever looked inside a skip wagon?

I think you are missing one thing. Some of us sleep in or wagons. Yes we all know you don’t, but if you had to sleep in your cab, i’m sure you wouldn’t want a load I ■■■■ in there too.
Another thing you were whining on about was the tree roots. As Conor said earlier, if the for gets damaged, then its knackered.
Come to think of it you are bloody good at whining, aren’t you?

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: did you ask for his autograph and get you picture taken with him■■?

Probably not he’d spent all this weeks pocket money on raffle tickets for a ride in the cab!

£4 a photo, £5 a ticket for a trip to RDC, you’ve got to admire Tinks and Wills ability to screw money out of these sad cases.

Re Stobart apprentices, is it possible they’re doing this to produce the type of driver they want? Corporate yes men, wave to the peasants, believe everything we tell you, types?

Are you saying that if you ran your own business you wouldn’t want employees who did as you told them?

I certainly wouldn’tve picked Mr Muscle; Didn’t look capable of pushing one of Tescos trollies never mind cages or coupling up a unit and trailer/pulling curtains on a curtainsider…

To be fair, I’m 13 and a half stone and physically fit but cages and baskets on wheels etc can be a ballache to get over the docking ramp. A lot of what we do as drivers is technique. Mark Dixon is about 9 stone wet through but he manages the curtains ok. It’s experience and technique.

Muscles can be built and, as others have said things like cages and trollies are as much about technique as much as brute strength. His attitude seemed right though, i’d rather have an enthusiastic weakling than some musclebound know-it-all who thinks work is beneath him.

Yeah but they had a choice to be featured in the program, no one held a gun to their head.

Its the same with shows like Xfactor and when the contestants get voted off. Millions view peoples failure in the name of entertainment but its their choice to be in that situation.

eddie fan all of a sudden?, this from the same bloke who reckoned they were being racist for not having aisan names on the truck, if your trolling at least try and remember what ■■■■■ you posted up earlier
