Stobart training Chelmsford

Hello all, I have indeed gone to the dark side today and accepted a job offer running biomass for stobarts from Sittingbourne.

It is 2 days induction training in Chelmsford, on the 9th-10th April, just wondering if anyone has been there and done that and could let me know what’s involved?

Please no slagging me off!! Lol

Cheers

I don’t think you have anything to worry about, enjoy it.

Years ago I did my 2 days at Crick. I enjoyed it to be fair, there was a good banter all round and the main thing thy teach you is the Stobart way.

All legal etc, and how they like to be seen by the public/spotters…that means they want it done professionally!

That said, as you see on the road some Stobart drivers just carry on as they did before - no doubt you will as well after a month or 2

Enjoy it, it’s a good laugh

Cheers for that, how is the training paid? I know travel and hotel are included, do they just pay you a 10 hour day, I.e £75?

He told you not to slag him off

What?

Gwinness:
What?

Ha ha yes indeed :unamused:

I can’t remember to be honest. I got put up in hotel with free food and 2 pints  rest of week I drove and in a daze with what I’d heard.

I would suggest to go with the flow for about 3 months (start as you mean to go on) don’t let them take the proverbial straight away (only when it suits). Try to get on with your planner it helps both ways.

They expect teething problems and don’t forget! While you are sussing them out they are doing exactly the same.

If youre working as a tramper for them do they pull you in from having a night so someone else can youse the lorry during the night. Cuz ive heard that they put you in a hotel if they need the truck or is it one of the stories that hear…

More importantly, tell me more about this job in Sittingbourne and how I can get onto it too!

I was first

Email stobart direct as they are not advertising, they are taking on through agency’s 12 week temp to perm and I cut out the middle man going direct

Cheers mate, yeah I’m a hard nut to crack, I’m not going to be a mark Dixon any time soon. How are you finding it? You on biomass?

 I think I’m misleading you  I was a tramper for Stobart for 4 years (enjoyed it as far as work goes). Got made redundant along with quite a few others (trampers not needed anymore at that time - Barlborough) just over 3 years ago this was.

Dare say I’d probably still be there if it wasn’t for that, enjoyed it really - good crack. Do the job you are paid for etc.

You do get knockers on here but ignore them, I did and still do

On the subject of Chelmsford I’m out that way on Monday, does the B1008 have any weight restrictions as id like to use it en route?

Your in a new job now then, sorry to hear you were made redundant, speaking money, how did you find it? Yeah the £7.50 an hour is ■■■■■ but they said I will take home around £600…

you’d need to work about 100 hours to take home £600 at that rate.

Nothing from A120 into Chelmsford, all clear of any restrictions
