Been on agency for them before, currently on agency for them.
I believe they pay is crap - and even worse for the 1st 12mths??
The job is like every other truck driving job I’ve ever done, planners who don’t know or don’t care, too much to do and not enough time to do it, bad / missing information etc.
BUT, I would work for them, I am doing even if it is through an agency, so don’t worry about it pal.

The way the job situation around West Yorkshire is getting now i doubt i will get a sniff anyway, but i gave it a shot.

Your sig looks like you’ve a lot to offer an employer mate, just sell yourself now.

Got all of those since last november when i was made redundant from a builders merchant (bar the HIAB ticket), not including an expired counter balance ticket. Just keep getting the two year nonsense, so i just keep plugging away.

quite amazing really[or maybe not],they send there drivers letters saying how bad things are,how there cutting wages, bonuses to try and stave off JOB CUTS,keep them too a MINIMUM,then a few weeks after it starts they put adverts in for drivers at those depots.
There wasn’t a link to a sidepage detailing the definition of what sounds like a cop-out due to the embarassment otherwise achieved like with that “upto 24,403” rubbish at the bottom…
I thought people were lining up to work for this firm?
I expect to gross more than that this coming year with 6 months off, 6 months on agency - so they can’t be paying £10ph base I guess!
There’s no limit to the number of vacancies for the job I’m doing either…
It’s very run of the mill then… There’s loads of firms offering pay like that around here already too.
As agency, I’d only be making myself available at a push (for those rates) for saturday & sunday nights. Of course, the agency then only lets me have those requested shifts “If” I put the hours in mid-week too, and then when I’ve got to friday, I’m either too knackered, and/or don’t have enough hours left to do the weekend stuff!
This is pretty much standard procedure at most of the agencies I’ve ever signed up with, hence why I don’t ever get work from most of them. (not prepared to work for crap pay & shifts midweek, just so I can get a “chance” of some weekend work!)
I can only do one shift at once anyways, so as long as there’s still an agency somewhere that gives me the rate & hours I want, I’m happy enough!
The agencies in medway are a bit backwards then. Usually you only get a full week if you work the weekends. Very surprising to hear an agency that expects you to do a full week first
I know what my opinion of them is (and it isn’t great) but will be applying for a drive at their Bellshill depot when I get my CE just to get some experience under my belt and on to my CV.

Well, I can tell you, you might as well save getting your C+E then mate, because, they’re not bad rates.
Overtime is disappearing across the industry, being replaced with flat rates, time and a quarter, time and a third, or just banked hours.
If you did a 13hr day on those rates advertised, you could add another £1 an hour to the rate due to the ‘meal allowance’, so £8.75 / hr (after the 12mths obviously) for hours between 6 and 6 mon - fri, which again, nobody does, 4am starts are pretty common, so that’s 2hrs at a higher rate, weekends are pretty standard across Stobarts - which is 1 of the things that’d put me off - so that’s 2 days at higher rates.
As ady1 has said in other places, it’s only holiday time when you’ll actually notice the poor rates, depending what you’re guarenteed, you’ll get say 50hrs @ the lowest rate (£7.75 after 12mths) which is still £375 per week, as holiday pay.
If you think C+E pays more for anyone else, I’d retrain into something else, because that’s about right now unfortunately.
