Stobart car transport

HI stobart are looking for transporter drivers at sheerness , anyone been for an interview yet . it would be interesting to see what they are paying . :astonished:

The add states negotiable pay! Experience dependent is my guess for pay!

I went for an interview with Inchcape years ago, and it was a pitiful basic hourly rate, but then each car you carried brought a bonus.

more cars, more money.

dunno if it’ still the same.

Can people with ‘more experience’ be paid more these days? that still allowed?

Plenty of jobs with Stobart all over the country by the look of the website except in the south-west, price you pay for living this end of the country i guess!!

I think the pay on experience is still possible unless there is a companywide agreement regarding pay although I am a newbie and open to a more experienced opinion, be it right or not

They have a sort of queing system. When you apply they keep it on record till they need new drivers and then go through the queue of who they will interview. If you look at the closing date of each job vacancy then check back in a few weeks, you will notice that job is always available, just that the date moves to a later date. There is no ‘actual’ job of sorts.

Are Transporter drivers not covered by car council negotiations?

No just the green elf council.

Don’t know how Stobarts are paying on cars but most do not pay more for more experience. Experienced drivers tend to earn more due to the nature of pay structures at a lot of companies by being able to do more work. I think experience should pay a little more as where I work a new driver can cost £10k in his first year in damaged cars. My last goods in transit claim was for £138 and that was 2 and a half years ago, so the company should want to look after those who don’t lose money. Any one who sticks with it will find themselves in that same experienced bracket one day.
