Haha! Does any one on here work for them?
FFS Stobart this Stobart that. I’m sure if you look through the forum you will find the info you need. Most likely small cab due to car on kicker long hours average money.
Any chance of a week without that company being mentioned.
Actually I’ve looked through the forum and haven’t found what I was looking for, otherwise I wouldn’t of posted a post asking would I??
Any chance of genuine question being answered rather than people thinkin it’s just troll or a stobart bashing post…
For ■■■■ sake
I wasn’t bashing them in any way shape or form. But don’t think a week goes by without a mention. Chances are on about the same money as MCD and I think it’s Warlon. Still be in low cab
I don’t work for them Dan but I was talking to one of their drivers a couple of months ago and said the planners haven’t got a clue what they are doing and are forever on the drivers backs. He wasn’t very happy with the setup in Southampton and mostly according to him it was down to a total lack of decent management who actually know what the job entails.
I worked for Tolemans back in the 80’s and in those days your management knew the job as much as we did, most having done it. Unlike nowadays with the modern day, ex university, text book ■■■■■■ who calls himself a TM.

Thank you.
No idea what the score is down there but they advertise regularly for Port of Tyne. Always appear to be rushing around & I’ve been told it’s a lot of physical graft, that’s enough to stop me enquiring btw. Saw one lose a car off the bottom deck on the roundabout above the Tyne tunnel a couple of months ago. When advertised through agency it was 3 shifts, £9, £10 & £11 per hour.
Back in the closed shop days Toleman, Abbey Hill, Silcock Express etc drivers wouldn’t have got out of bed for the '80s equivalent of those rates. Seem to remember drivers making £25k up in the 80’s!

I think you’ll find that they were making a ■■■■ sight more than that.
Yes in the late 80’s a grand a week was on the cards, but required some serious work not involving sitting on ones arse at an RDC whilst the load tips itself, as transporters always have.
New Automotive lads are no longer on carp money, they are now on the same proper transporter rates as the long termers, thanks partly to pressure from existing experienced blokes via their union (but hey why do we need unions ), there may possibly be some ferry jobs that pay different rates but that has been the case long before this lot thought they could operate transporters on the cheap, where dozens before who have tried failed miserably to do so too.
^^^^ +1. Never done the job myself but I’ve paid close attention to these bods going about their daily and I’ll echo what Juddian says, this isn’t a job for monkeys, it’s specialised and highly skilled with a huge potential for expensive disaster. Never has the adage “you reap what you sow” been more prevalent to these eejits who think that by paying £7 per hour they’ll save money in the long run.

Slinging an agency bod into do a car transporter at 9hour an hour, christ almighty Arnold Clark will be choking on his tea and biscuits at that one.
It’s an industry all about quality, yet they think the same principles as general haulage can be applied to it.
For me transporters is specialised not only in the hydraulics but also the experience needed to get a uncovered car from A to B without a single scuff mark.
I know a bloke who started with these lot last week.
All I’m going to say is he starts with carlson this week lol
I think there getting very desperate for drivers, mate was banned from working for them at a depot, now rang him up and asked him if he will come back and work for them.
Thanks but no thanks,I’ve got a decent job now

Having seen first hand how they drive from port of Tyne to the Nissan plant, and inside the plant for that matter, I think it’s all about quantity not quality I’m afraid.
Large full page advertisement in this months Truck and Driver saying due to expansion Britains largest car transporter operator requires drivers at about 10 depots all over the country.
It says great rates of pay options of roaming mon-fri shifts, 4 on 4 off and days or nights I think. It also said you get 33 days holiday a year ( didn’t say including bank hols) and it said something about a drivers retention scheme in place for experienced car transporter drivers.

Thought you had too have 5 yrs service to get the 33 days holidays, must be giving them from day one on c/trans( I wouldn’t trust then though).
