Stobart Automotive

Good morning.

I was just wondering if anyone knows the pay/bonus system for the Stobart transporter drivers please as I’ve been offered an assessment/interview. The chap on the phone said that details are only given at interview.

Many thanks in advance.

The petrol boys loading out of stanlow aren’t on anything near the other firms money (texaco, Dhl, etc) but gain valuable experience so I’d expect the same for the transporters. If I fancied it I’d go for it, not much help I know but stobies usually pay below the norm for specialized work but might still be a good number. Not much help I know, I’d have a go, you can always move onwards and upwards

Many thanks for your reply.

Cancelled the induction as after considering things I’m probably much better off staying where I am. My job at the moment has good pay/conditions, but is a little mundane, hence my application for the transporter work. I heard from another source that the money isn’t great for the work involved at Stobart Automaotive.

Surely attending the interview would have given you the answers

Why do people do that ,its happening alot lately ,people get a interview then start to ask questions before they go,just go for the interview and find out yourself, you must have been interested to have applied in the first place :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

The majority of jobs are mundane. Even travelling across Europe as I do, is tedious sometimes. But the grass ain’t always greener. As others have stated, go find out for yourself and don’t listen to the ■■■■■■■■ on here.

Yes because you don’t always get accurate information in good time & sometimes it’s best to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth…

When the chap from Stobart phoned me to arrange the interview he would not reveal any details of the pay/conditions, even though I asked him.

Also, where I work, our digi-card records flag up any non-company vehicles on the microlise software they use, so I’ve also saved myself any awkward questions at work.

Thing is you still don’t know what the rate of pay is, nor the possibility of progression onto the totally different Autologic pay scale currently being earned by the 11 car drivers.

Seldom does anyone go straight in at the top in specialised work such as cars, you have to earn your spurs, but the rewards can be there for those prepared to learn.

hi all stobart automotive are now being payed the autologic pay agreement after a long despute between autologic drivers and esl regarding the use of cheaper labour. the agreement is far too complicated to go into in detail but involves car bonus driving hours loading and unloading and various others. you can earn a very good wage one upto speed but that does take time maybe 6month to a year to be fully competent after 3 month you should be moving along a bit . used to get a min £104 a day for new starters to help then ease into it without feeling the need to rush not sure if that still being paid but think it is.However it is hard work and not for everbody for various reason drop out rate in first three months is about 60% good time of year to start now with better weather coming in hope this helps

Thanks Tubbs good post, welcome news indeed, presumably this pay equalising is recent?

Thats good for the automotive drivers, so long as they get either the size of vehicles to get Large (or even Extra Large) Vehicle rate, or enough volume shifted.
Its not going to be a great earner with a 6/7 car carrier on 1 load a day or multi drop (lots of us have been there, you can’t run till you learn to walk), but for those prepared to give it a go and prove themselves, there is the possibility of moving onwards and upwards…the existing 11 plus drivers aint getting any younger.

The pay is complicated as you say, if they’re now on Autologic pay i’m not surprised they didn’t attempt to explain it over the phone, even when you’ve been on that pay for 6 months you STILL have trouble getting your head round it.

Our OP might have shot himself in the foot there.

juddian yes pay was brought into line about a month six weeks ago also the seven car semi trailers have been distributed to various autologic depots as far as I know the stobart drivers on them returned to group and will have to apply to automotive to transfer which I think some have done

So…if you apply for a Stobart transporter driver vacancy through the Stobart website, would you be actually applying for an autologic vacancy?

Tazbug

No, Autologic was bought by Stobart, its now Stobart Automotive.

as juddian says stobart bought out autologic summer 2012 we are offially stobart automotive although some of us don’t like to admit it automotive ran as a separate company as are sensible automotive

Ah OK, thanks guys. Been thinking of getting into the transporter side of things, this appears to be a good starting point!

Tazbug

Yeah…Stobart Automotive…delivering your new car with care!! :grimacing:

Does anyone know how long Stobart Automotive take to get back to you with a yes or no, following an assessment and interview?

Regards

Tazbug
