Pretty sure it’s an Amazon contract, as they are also advertising for shunters in Doncaster, Hemel,Rugeley, Dunfermline, Gourock, Peterborough and Milton Keynes, all of which have Amazon depots.

Really don’t get the hate towards stobart. Surely every haulier should want to aspire to be them? After all don’t you start a business to make money? New fleet, smart uniforms(shame it’s green though), looked after equipment and from what I gather pays well and has plenty of work. Or am I missing something or being naive?
I don’t get it either. As a haulier myself I don’t aspire to be like Stobart, I’m quite happy carrying on as a one-man-band, but whenever I meet one of Stobart’s drivers I talk to them in exactly the same way as I talk to anybody else who drives a truck, give them directions to their next drop if I know it, that sort of thing.
The only conclusion I can possibly come to is that there are some complete and total idiots on TruckNet.
Just some?
The seem unable to get a foothold in South Wales, they had a few trucks in Newport once and ran out of Knauf in Pontypool, they have to compete with some very large and well established hauliers John Raymond, Owens, TD Williams and so on.
Not easy when you need to back load the little that does come out of wales today and do it around the clock seven days a week if there was opportunity I’m sure if there were the work they would have been there years ago.
It could well be Amazon as they run 24/7 like Stobarts I’m not a fan but then nobody’s has ever forced me to drive for them we all have that choice.

Why do you need to back haul,we run empty back from Southampton ( 180 apx miles), snodland ( 160 apx miles) ,avonmouth ( 160 apx miles ) etc etc every night of the week and have been doing for years, according too them they get paid very well for the load,so no need too backhaul.
N.b avonmouth may have changed as I haven’t done it for months, but do s/amp ton- snodland every week,3/4 times a week and always run back empty.
I’m sure if tesco opened a rdc in Wales we’d be doing the same.
Might be to do with the steel WS is doing for 'em, see a few of em bouncing the shiny up & down from swales.

There is one in Magor isn’t there? There used to be one in Chepstow too.
