Looking at doing my training with Eddie stobart is the wages good for new drivers?

Every time I see them and their innocent little faces trundling through Widnes in a nice shiny new rigid I just can’t help but think they are the HGV equivalent of grooming…

Yes it is worth it M8, its a lot better than most. Easy work.

Work is easy but it’s the push , push, after Bradford I went to Goole , planner at Goole said nothing yet grab a seat , my planner rings up
What job have you , told to grab a seat as nothing doing , tell him to give you a job , any job now , ring me in 5 mins , he rings back a minute later get a tri and pull out , what , pull out now , go to wotton , gets to wot ton and it’s a 7 am tip tomorrow , he rings up , present it today , but I won’t be there till 16.30 and they go between 16.00-16.30 , try
So I ring them , no driv bring it in morn for 7 , ok , rings him , [zb] hell , right what 15,s have you left , [zb] none , right start at 7 then you’ve got till 20.00 , what about the football , I’m trying to get tomorrow , yea well I want to be home at 16.00 so I can watch the football , you no the score I’m trying to get you home , what at bloody 20.00 on a Friday night , no 17.00 , so I’ll be home at 17.00 , no I didn’t say that , I’m trying to get you home , instead of tryin just bloody plan me home , I’ve done 58 hrs in 4 days , 2x10 hrs drives surely you can get me home at a sensible time fri , I want to see my football team , I’ll do my best to get you home , no guarantees

Did you see the guy from Bristol today in Goole dozy, he had been there 3 hrs to get a trailer, I left at 10.30 am and I saw him crying at his wheel, he said they cant get him a load until 3pm. He had been in since 7am and had to drive back. I asked him if he was on rest and he had it on POA so no chance of him getting home for tonight.

Only a Stobbies driver would have it on POA for over 8 hours !! … :unamused:

Put it on POA all week but not when you want to get home. It made me smile I must admit.

Thinking of nipping down to William Hills - to check out the odds of Ukt’s Green Dream going bang in the days or weeks ahead

Bless him - our very own Fridge Magnet.

M8 I am in no utopia believe me, I have no delusions of where I am working. It will not matter in a week or a year to change my mind on anything. I am driving for a firm, I don’t care who I drive for providing I don’t get treat like a dummy, once that starts I simply leave. I am different to a lot of drivers in respect to the fact I do not have to do this job if I do not want to. I can walk away at anytime, I have my own business that gives me the money I need to live on. I do this out of love of driving, I have two sons and my son in law who run my day to day business. I will make this statement though, I have made a grave error in leaving my job on animal feeds, I regret that decision but it is not out of the question to return, I also have the opportunity of car transporters too which is another area that I may or may not like. Thing is, you can’t knock me for trying things out as I rarely stay doing anything for long if it doesn’t suit me, because I can chop and change without it affecting me I am happy to be at Stobart.

Fair play, Ukt - it’s probably the best way to look at it.

But why did you leave the animal feeds gig?

Would you believe, bad advice. I listened to someone who was working on animal feeds and had been doing it years. Turned out he had only been doing it for a few months and was repeating what he had heard to me, I took him at his word. More fool me.

I thought people who didn’t like the job, just took outfit back, and left it in the yard.
