tesco are very picky about operators that want to pull their trailers for them, they have to meet very high standards indeed.
it doesn’t matter if they run only 1 truck or 1000 trucks, they all have to meet the same strict criteria.

So why was Currieuropeon in there then

yet another high profile operator and despite what you may have heard from drivers chit chat they do meet the necessary high standard of operations, we are talking health and safety standards etc, they don’t run heaps of rubbish held together with brown tape etc.

Beg to differ there m8,i see there trl’s m8 daily and some of them leave alot to be desired.

You’ve not seen a Tesco.com delivery van then?

Dover are still running one with a side panel made from Yellow gaffer tape! Must be nearly a year now, i know because i patched it up after a colleage decided to use the gate to make a new window! :open_mouth:

but tesco don’t ask for them to bring their own trailers, they want traction only, a clean late tractor unit is all that is required and i think currie operate a 5 year renewal program on their own fleet.
the currie trailers aren’t that bad really, at the end of the day any company that relies upon subcontractors pulling their trailers all over europe is going to expect some amount of damage.
you should see the state of some of the trailers i have to pull and some of them are less than a year old, rips in the curtains that have not been reported, rigging boards missing, roof bars bent, strap buckles crushed, straps missing, poles bent, ratchets broke and obvious reversing accident damage, my mate had to have a air bag replaced the other week on a trailer that had been dropped that day by another subby who must have brought it in with the bag collapsed and leaking air, the driver must have known but obviously couldn’t be bothered to report it.

They must be making an absolute fortune by subbing then, to make it worth while sustaining this kind of misuse.

Salut, David.

This is one of the reasons that some firms refuse still to send their trailers
any where without the firms own drivers, due to the amount of damage
that does happen so often,

We seem to still get a lot of damage though Pete.

Its funny that all the damaged trailers were like that when they were picked up.

We do send a lot unaccompanied though and also use a lot of stand trailers

On the contract I’m on at Huddersfield for my employer.we also use similar double deck trailers on Tesco at Northampton,so there are obviously more than a handful of subbies for Tesco.
