Still quiet on the agency front

I can confirm there’s no such thing as the post Xmas dead season for agency drivers, only the post Xmas holiday season.
Don’t struggle with the (snow) shovel, just Thomas cook it …

So when you are scraping the ice and shoveling the snow for your weekly wage i’ll be doing nothing with the money in the bank. Kids fed and clothed, bills paid sun on me back.

Hear hear. Work like (zb) now, enjoy it in a few weeks time relaxing while some of the anti agency guys are rising in minus degree temperatures and feeling smug about having “real jobs”.

like i say any decent agency driver (including ski’s) i have are out working full time/as many shifts as they want, i dont think it will die down so much in Jan as people think but i have for the last 3 years managed to give all my guys enough to keep them able to pay bills and live a bit.

This will be my first January as an agency driver. I assumed it would quieten down but the one im with think it’ll be steady enough. So a bit of a boost if im still looking to work driving.

Getting asked daily to do more shifts £14-17 an hour to do one drop. Been agency nearlly two years now an no slow up of work.

with the rates increasing and a lot have also locked guys in with a bonus for commitment ( payable in Jan ) a lot of guys could take a couple of weeks winter sunshine quite easily.

Thought I’d be having this week off as I’ve had to become more fussy what runs I can do, not a chance. As for the ‘quiet time’, opportunities for work didn’t drop off the last couple of years and not expecting it to be any different this year, whether I feel like doing it is another matter.

I came in after my shift yesterday to hear one of our office bods say he had rang all the agencies and there was not a driver to be had!

its a tad changed from earier. you can work basically legal if you want, though as usual, the English work is trip money…use your own judgement as to what trip money entails.there not any worse than others if you want to work for companies where your only a bum on a seat and as good as your last trip.most of the famous hooligans ,sawyers, dfds subbys etc, will also work you legal now…just fill a card, and stop. someone else will come and lift your trailer etc…then again, its still ok for you to work things to suit yourself if you want to.nobodys going to discourage you if you know what your doing and prefer the trip money flat out.usually you will be on 3 uk trips 1st week, and 2 uk trips 2nd week…or more if your up for it and not a clown.

haha i was surprised to hear pimpdaddy has a job!

wonder how long before it becomes another [zb] company on his evergrowing list.

No surprise, just because you wouldn’t employ me doesn’t mean other people won’t. I wonder too, only time will tell…:open_mouth:

I’ve already been booked for my first shift in 2015. Thinking I might make it my only shift in January as its a New Years Day night shift (not Eve) making it a Bank Holiday special so half a weeks wage for a nights work. 4 months after coming back to driving, thanks to the rise in agency pay rates the bank account is nice and fat and there’s a nice chunk of holiday pay to take by the end of January as well.

There’s always plenty of work for those willing to drive for £6.50 an hour…

Some people dont get work because they are not worth employing[/qu because if your good. the companys want you back if you drag it out and take 15hrs to Correct some guys drag it out and take 15hr shift to do a ten hour job then they don’t want you back its simple, then they wonder why no work for a week, because you took the ■■■■ mate. i just get on with the job clean the cab when i return and always get the same firms asking me back.

I’ve been to places where “donking around cleaning the cab” is considered a form of "hanging it out, taking the ■■■■". :bulb:
