stick your job

was meant to be starting a new job tomorrow, (wont name company) . Had interview and driving assessment and was offered the job. Gets contract through the post , sign it and return and was told your be contacted a few days or day before you start to tell you what your doing , so give my notice in to my current employer. so all last week no contact from them , ring them today " oh yes someone will contact you later…and I’m still waiting , so ive just tried to ring them and guess what office closed! Well thank you very much!

If they have sent you a contract then they appear to be in breach of said contract.I would try contacting them during ofice hours and if no joy get in touch with Citizens advice.

Maybe there’s a mix up and someone thought someone else was sorting it when in fact no one sorted it, drive in and see them tomorrow morning armed with your new contract.

As mentioned if you’ve signed a contract and they’ve given you a job it’s up to them to make good.

Perhaps in hind sight it may have been better not to have handed your notice in until you knew, and we happy with, what your new job entailed. Lesson learnt for next time perhaps.

turn up at 0800 and clock on or whatever the criteria is and sit it out :exclamation:

+1
Frustrating as it is and hopefully not a sign of things to come but show willing and turn up ready for work.

At worst youl be sat round for ages while they sort it even if it means someone has to look you in the eye and tell you what’s going on.

I’m not to savy on the breach of contract in this case as employment law isn’t my speciality (well I just google the stuff to look clever to be honest) but the rules of contract formation appear to have been met: offer, acceptance, circumcision etc.

If you have a contract, there should be a start date on it, just turn up & announce your arrival.

well all sorted , there reason someone in admin forgot to inform transport manager, :astonished: Was going to go in for 8 and see what happened but had lie in, so rang head office and they were surprised I was not working. Was told there look into why this had happened and get back to me. Had phone call from transport manager to apologise , and starting tomorrow instead, and there going to pay me 8 hours for today  .

Good job you didn’t name the company then in case they see you slating them on here
Congrats btw!!

With a big ■■■■ in reception. Remember not to wash and have a big curry stain down your shirt.

You’ll fit right in 99% of haulage companies that way.
