In the good old days when muffin the mule was a TV show rather than a ■■■■■■ offence I have moved many a trailer for a ‘drink’, only a pound or two back then but coupled with a friendly atmosphere things where done without fear of retribution.
Nowadays I would want a tenner + a signed disclaimer countersigned by my office absolving me of all responsibility if something should go wrong.

We must be on thee same wavelength !
I was just writing this & you beat me to it-
I’ll help anybody out, especially if they’re waving a bunch of those Blue bits of paper around, but these days I’d check with the office first.
The good old days of regular Backhanders are long gone. [emoji22]
As one of the old school…i would have said yes mate, where dya want it…good customer relations, i have done it in the past, and i would do it again…10 minutes of your time. And dont tell me, what if this happens or that happens…it doesnt happen to me…cos i`m good at what i do.
I’ve had arguments with non-my-employer managers over the question of “Insurance”.
They argued that their fleet was insured for whomever their managers said it was insured for.
I argued that as a PAYE employee of another company, I’d not have a leg to stand on as a trespasser, if I were to “work uninsured for them” and something went wrong, such as harming a member of the public for example.
“A manager giving me permission verbally” does NOT add them to the listed persons covered under any insurance document that of course I’d never seen, and will never see.
I offered to do as they’d asked, if they gave me their orders in writing.
This was refused, and in turn I could fully refuse their orders forthwith, knowing now for 100% certain that their intent was full of crap from the outset.
If they had just wanted the job done, and were in the crap for having no available staff of their own on site to do it - then they would have JUMPED at the chance to give me written orders eh?
I have no respect for managers that wish to take chances and then hide behind some kind of limited liability shield, often some unwary chump they can find to obey them without question…
