It’s ok, he’s older and wiser now

How many cat 2 loads get moved at 35mph on a dual carriageway? Not that many I’d guess.

WHY■■? have you resurrected a pointless 4 year old thread :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused:

mine did - I was getting paid by the hour

Are STGO loads exempt from HGV speed limits on a single carriageway? I ask as recently I have seen some of those types of loads with and without escorts and they clearly have not been doing 40mph as they disappear further up the carriageway when I’m on the CC at roughly 40mph.

One example was the A47 near swaffham heading towards King’s Lynn. I was behind him on dual carriageway carrying this massive ship but where it then becomes single again he left me for dust with his ■■■■■■ and vanished. I was cruising at 40-42ish as that road is renowned for speed cameras vans and passed him about 30 mins later parked up in that big lay-by before the king lynn roundabout.

This isn’t a rant as end of the day its up to the driver etc etc etc etc but just wondered if something under the C&U regs or whatever exempted them from speed limits?

cheers

they are under the same rules as other hgv’s. but they do less speed depending on weight, length, and width.

why was you doing 40mph? no one else does.

of course it is, common sense should surely tell you that an abnormal load is not going to be allowed to go faster than a normal truck on a single carriageway :unamused:

i did think that but im not up to speed on the r&r’s surrounding that sort of business so thought i’d ask

If they’re cat 2 or 3 then it’s a 30mph limit on a single carriageway.

Any Vehicle displaying a STGO board wether loaded or not are under STGO regs in regards to speed , If the STGO Board is removed or covered the vehicle returns to normal hgv regs as in speed limits thats on all roads.
