STGO lads... watch where you park

Looks like they clamped his wee van too!

if the load was under police ■■■■■■ would it have been clamped

it;s very rare that you get police escorts now the law has changed so you supply your own hence the van parked behind him , anyway he was lucky to get in tha abnormal load bay i;e some service don’t have them or normal wagons park there with the curtains pulled sso instead of waking them i try and park elsewere

You are right Ricky, there is nothing unusual in that he got clamped cos he didnt pay, the fact that his truck and trailer was bigger than the town that i live in :open_mouth: doesnt exclude him from that. Just cos its impressive due to the size, doesnt exclude it from paying like everyone else. Ive been a second man with my dad a few times, when he was a mere STGO3, and he allways made a point of paying when we stopped for the night, due to the fact that something that size draws attention to people, weather it be truck or car drivers or the bods who take your parking money. The bloke who put the clamp on that truck must have been playing eeny meeny miney mo for ages though

Excellent !

it would be very interesting to find out if this is actually legal. what are the regulations regarding service areas and reserved bays for abnormal loads etc.
surely the driver has not contravened the regulations and has parked in the correct area, although he has parked overnight the bay is for abnormal loads and no time restriction can be placed upon the parking of abnormal loads as it is unsure what time the next movement can be made.
i think if i was the boss i would be making an appeal and then off to the small claims court.
as for driving off with the clamp on that would do more damage than the release fee, the only way to do that would be to pull the clamp around the wheel then strap it to the wheel provided they haven’t put the chain across or through any brake pipes or the track rod ends.

With all them wheels, why didn’t he just take the wheel off and chop the ■■■■■■ clamp to bits?
I hate these ■■■■■■ cowboy clampers!! £200!!! £300 if by C/C■■?

shame that axle isnt a midlift that would solve the problem. :imp: :imp: :imp:

John,

The problem lies in that the rules and regs for the MSA’s clearly state that after 2hrs parking a fee is payable. There are no exceptions to the rule and and it is their land one doesn’t hold any argument whatsoever. The rules & regs are big and clear enough for all to see.

For the driver to think he was excluded from the fees was just silly.

i stayed in harts head moore service on the m62 last night, paid me parking like most of the drivers ,woke up this morning to see at least six motors clamped, :open_mouth: i went and had a cup of tea and toast when i came back to see a dutch man trying to cut his off and a german looking at his clampand scrathing his head , then kicked it   so i left them to it

I for one shall be carrying a grinder in the cab of my new motor

Maybe if they start providing a service for the money i.e security fencing, a toilet block that isnt 1/2 mile away, clean showers & decent food etc.etc
I may start paying again

But until then I shall be holding an annual auction of second hand clamps all proceeds going to my holiday fund
