Stgo 2/3

Just curious how long is the training course and price, is it worth going for. I suppose probably not nice pay packets on indeed 1100 per week [emoji44]

Never heard of anyone offering STGO training courses. I think its just down to experience and working your way up through the ranks to the big stuff.

£1100?

I wouldn’t get out of bed for that.

Yep, no special licence required. As an agency limper I’ve double manned with cloggies moving 100ft wind turbine masts from Hull docks to Ireland a few times that came under STGO…

STGO, no official training as such. But the equipment that you could be using do require knowledge and instruction on how to use it and what not to do. And what to do when it goes wrong.

I work for DFDS, and we have STGO2 trucks on the fleet, only up to 65t though, they are just standard off the shelf 6x2 mid lifts. They do the job fine.

The bit you do need to be clued up on is more of the admin side, understanding movement orders, time restrictions, (Manchester is a bloody nightmare!)
And what you can actually move with in your weight limits.

Also understanding, that it’s not going to drive normally, rear steer trailers, tail swing, the fact your gonna want 2 lanes everywhere, not just on roundabout, and you really are the biggest thing on the road.

And then there is the public. I’ve been screamed at, sworn at, told I’m the biggest ■■■■■■ going. And that’s just the other truck drivers!

It’s a hard job, with long unsociable hrs, working weekend’s and bank holidays. But it can be quite rewarding.

The th bowlers job has been advertised for a fair bit.

Not a problem. I do have my HGV, but not used it in anger with STGO. but I generally do the escorting of abnormal loads.
