Steetley /redland /lafarge

Hi Drewster.A picture of a Steetley foden here for you to start your thread off (the picture comes courtesey of flatman001)he has a site http://johnslorryphotos.fotopic.net its full of allsorts of trucks take a look

thanks for the pic stanfield the foden pictured his just like the one my dad used to drive ,but his was a little older i think with a split windscreen.i seem to recall it being a y reg with a rolls royce engine,i used to love the noise it made when pulling,it purred and pulled away leaving the other company owned trucks with gardner engines i think well behind.of course this was back when you were able to take kids in the truck with you, many of the big aggregate companys wont let you take them with you any more which is a shame ,many of my best days as a boy were spent with my dad in that truck especially on my summer holidays.

Drewster

Hi Drewster Steetley Transport was seperate from Steetley aggregates who were the quarry side of the business transport side ran bricks and chemicals the tipper side ran out of the quarries to supply the steel works.
They did run over the water from Dover usually into Belgium to the brickworks there and returning with a type of slop moulded brick back to this country. Hope this is of help to you.
Beefeater.

Put into service in 1975,note the front grille panel this was the final style panel to be fitted. Also due to cost saving by British Leyland measures note that the famous blue triangle badge and chrome wheel trims and rear hub covers are missing.
