When it’s raining as soon as I come to a stop my windows instantly fog over, I’ve tried driving with windows open, sunroof open, made sure the air is coming out the screen vents, tried aircon on and off and it’s still happening, it makes for some interesting times at roundabouts! My boss has asked volvo and they said its because its too airtight which my boss and I know is complete ■■■■■ (my guess is they don’t want to investigate the problem on a 8 year old truck).
It’s a 05 Volvo FH12 sleeper cab by the way. Please help me sort this as its driving me insane…
Might just be a build up of humidity in the cab.
Air con and heater on will help, plus fresh rather than recirc air.
Get some dehumidfier crystals to go in the cab: boat and caravan shops sell them in a little trough. Leave in the cab overnight. You can dry them out and reuse them over again.
Also try polishing the inside of the window with anti-mist spray (motorbike shops sell it for visors)
Has it had a new screen in recently? Any of our DAFs that have had one in the past few months a pee’ing in water
keep a/c on
check pollen filter, may be blocked or wet
clean your windows with some proper glass polish, this will help them clear quicker
check for leaking heater matrix
Has the particle filter on the heater air intake been changed recently? Have had this problem on my own car, plus seen it on other vehicles when I worked in a garage.
Had this on a daf a hole had rusted through above the header tank also it was drawing in water through the pollen filter had to remove filter if it rained
This wont cure the problem as to why the windows are steaming up, but to help keep windows mist free, apply fairy liquid to a cloth and spread on inside of windows, keep wiping around 'till it disappears , apply more as needed. I have been told that shaving foam works as well but have not tried that so can’t comment.
Cheers, Gary.
on an 06 scania I had the pipe for the windscreen washers was leaking into the housing for the pollen filter which was just below the windscreen, evrytime I came to a stop the windows would fog up as it was damp air that was being pushed through the vents due to the pollen filter being soaked
Think you may find that it is just steam! When you stop in the wet all the rain and damp on the radiator comes straight up and in the heater air intake. Most trucks suffer with this, however the Volvo’s seem to be worse.
drive like ace ventura pet detective
If the pollen filter is directly below my windscreen then it’s nearly black, if I just removed it to see if it cured it would it do any damage? (Until I could get the boss to get a new one).
Turn it upside down and tap it on a hard, dry surface, or blow out with clean compressed air from the cleanside.
Are you sure it’s not your glasses??
Just sayin
Stop picking up female hitch hikers…

Stop picking up female hitch hikers…Ken.
I wondered if this was at Kettering on the A14 services
I think all Volvos get steamed up, and many modern cars do as the manufacturers are trying to make them lighter and use less sound deadening which probably soaks up condensation as well
Salt will sort it.
A couple of trays left in it for a few days, overnight, weekend etc.
It will attract the moisture in the vehicle.
It is used in caravans etc. over a winter period to keep them dry inside.
Thought Tina Turner did that?
I went out with my old man in his Globby a while back and it was so bad we had to pull over on the side of the road as you couldn’t see a thing. He turned the air con switch off and it stopped.
