Steam

Steam Loco Brittania 70000 parked up last night at Uttoxeter on one of Allely’s low loaders facing towards Stoke and possibly M6…
Does anyone know where it is going today ■■

Saturday, April 21 to 29 — Steel Steam and Stars 3 at the Llangollen Railway, featuring, 60163 Tornado, 70000 Britannia, and 10 other locos in steam over the 9 days.

thanks for that Mr Monk… nice one…

Sounds like fun, caravan needs to stretch it’s legs, might nip to that…

Been on Llangollen Steam rail a few times, for the Ale train and a murder mystery and poppy day special.

yeah, that Britania engine is an impressive looking machine its gota be said.

Is it’s sister engine, Oliver Cromwell still in working order? Those Britannia locos had stupidly short working lives yet were designed to run well into the '70s/'80s.
Been on the footplate of City of Truro too…

Want that job :smiley:

She’s certainly looking a bit better than this one I spotted a few months back. :wink:

Think it’s probably this one.

The steam locomotive could have been further developed with the aim of improving efficiency.The Britania Class did not run properly in British Railways service because a crank pin had its pivot point drilled in the wrong place. After withdrawal some went to preservation and were stripped down and the fault was rectified.

Look out for Tornado, that’s being moved by low loader from Barrow Hill to Llangollen today…

On the subject of steam engines, they’re feeling the pinch too;

No doubt Carryfast’ll be along soon to tell us that this wouldn’t be the case if Arthur Scargill was still in charge… :wink:
