Staying Occupied

Ive never found the fm transmitters to be that good, new scanias dont have a usb or a aux socket so am stuck with the bloody radio most of the time :frowning:

Bought a cheap FM transmitter from TESCO last night before my shift and must say it works well, not a lot of interference over long distance.

I was more talking about night’s really, I listen to Steve Wright and Simon Mayo and then once they’re done it’s boredom boredom boredom. Sometimes I’ll listen to a CD but with only 1 of the 2 lorries having a working CD player it can be a bit frustrating, more often than not because I’m in the one without the working CD player. :imp:

I listen to a lot of podcasts

Whats a podcast?

Basically it’s a condensed broadcast of a radio show that you download to your iPod or phone or mp3 player to listen to at your leisure. When I say condensed it’s exactly the same show but minus the news/travel/weather interrupting it.

All BBC podcasts are free, just go to each stations web page to see which programs are available. Radio 4 and radio 5 are my staples.

But podcasts are available from broadcasters all over the world, some are free others are not.

Hope this helps.

I plug my android phone into the aux input and bang out the tunes all day. And maybe peruse youtube on the breaks!

player+fm transmitter tune into 106.0 usually works around here, and settle down for umpteen hours of serious driving music of all genres.
Too much interference to use them well in major cities though, so I keep the music to the open road. There’s something sounding like a somalian rant going on at 106.0 on M25 J24 area that forces me to re-tune to 105.6

I used to try to learn French from cd’s. Kept me alert, even if I forgot it all by the next day!

bought myself a “pure highway” DAB radio. transmits on fm so you can move it from truck to truck. with the external aerial it’s reception is great, and i can plug my mp3 into it too  still bugger all on worth listening too, but much more choice

if i’m driving late evening, i do like the suicide phone ins on bbc local radio
