Spending an extended weekend, in Chelmsford. For those in the know, whats the best place to eat a good truckers breakfast in the area? Add to that any recommendations on what to do in this city■■?
Cheers in advance.

You could pop round to my house for a truckers breakfast and then repay me by laying my patio
Where are you staying and what potential onward transport have you got for getting out, to do what sort of thing. If you’ve a bike there’s some nice routes through the central parks.

Bank Holiday Monday 4 June — 3pm to 11pm
Hylands Estate is the proud host to the
Chelmsford Diamond Jubilee Beacon lighting event.
This will be an event for the whole community
to include a 1950s style country fete, community
arena, workshops and free entertainment. As dusk
draws in, lay out a rug on the back lawn and enjoy
our open-air showing of Disney’s 1952 film classic
‘The Story of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men
before we light the Beacon for Chelmsford.
Admission: FREE
How Bizzare!
We are staying at the County Hotel, in the city itself. Bought the Galaxy V6 down, so wheels are the transportation choice. We are having time away as we are HAVING OUR PATIO LAID… (seriously) .
Maldon is quite a nice little town about 10 miles away, the Promenade park has a load of little cafes and there are some old Thames barges moored at the quay, the town is a short walk away.
Southend is a love it or hate sort of place not too distant, I’m not overly struck (mainly because they pretend they are on sea) but you can wander along the front, have fish and chips, wander along the pier, do some 2p machines etc.
If you are more interested in the City itself there is a museum in Oaklands park about the history and industry of the town and also the Essex Regiment Museum. Both of these are free and just a short distance from the County Hotel.
Hopefully you’ll find something to do.

A decent breakfast can be found at the cafe on the west side of Chelmsford on what used to be the old A12, it’s on the dual carriageway between the Marconi roundabout and the new A12, if you’re heading out of Chelmsford it’s on the left
Been a few years since I went in there, so it may have gone now, but if it’s still there it’s a good breakfast

The Rose cafe - stilll there, and still a good feed!
As stated above Maldon is nice if you like the relaxed life, a few little shops then a walk down to the park area and a walk by the quay followed by either seafood dishes or fish and chips. Never fails
Spent time at Maldon,Euro PSL have a depot there, old historic town, bought a bike for the mrs there.
Get out as soon as you can!
Plenty of good bars in town centre, lots of them do a 2 for 1 offer on food, couple of decent shopping centres, Hylands Park, lived here 12 years better than the East end…
