Static caravan movement,do they legally require an escort?

Been doing an Aberystwyth run from Newtown all week and those that know the road will know it’s narrow quite a few places,I’ve been heading through at 5ish and over last 2 mornings have met 3 unescorted static caravans on the back of rigid flat beds, one caused absolute choas as I and another wagon behind me met it coming the other way through the narrow part before you hit Ponterwyd,he had to reverse back a good 250 yards.
Now every one I’ve met of the 3 were the same company moving them, just wondered if they are running them early doors to cut costs on ■■■■■■ vehicles as they used to be always under ■■■■■■ once upon a time.

Usually depends on overhangs/ dimensions as to whether an ■■■■■■/ movement order is needed.

Was a standard size static caravan every time, overhanging massively…just seemed odd for them not to have an ■■■■■■ as they used to always have them made me wonder if they were been shifted early morning to save money in a ■■■■■■ in the hope they wouldn’t get spotted.

Based on information from the Transporter Friend web site under abnormal loads, it appears they might need an attendant but don’t actually need an ■■■■■■. It’s possible they could be running during the morning to avoid rush hour, although doesn’t sound like they succeeded.

I do wonder if however the vehicle was officially suitable for the job if it’s overhanging that much - don’t know too much about the construction and use regulations and last time I read that text, I got a headache.

I know a company near Kendal who ran these always had ■■■■■■ vehicles, but I suspect they also need a second pair of hands to help unload and install the caravans, so it made sense. Our company runs with an ■■■■■■ when the load (not usually caravans) is over 2m wider than the vehicle, but never asked if that was anything legal or just to make things easier.

Cant say I’ve ever seen one with an ■■■■■■ but agree it would be sensible on a narrow road

It’s rush hour every hour on that road as it’s the main trunk road to west wales, just threw me a bit as I’ve never not seen one under ■■■■■■ on that road then all of a sudden saw 3 in 2 days but as they were all the same company just wondered if they were running illegally to save the dollars.

Maybe it is just me then, but that road you struggle to get 2 normal sized wagons past each other in places.

I pulled a few back in the UK, never needed an ■■■■■■, just corner boards. I once took a Demag overhead crane from Banbury to Nottingham, 14’ wide and 70’ long with no ■■■■■■ until I stopped outside Nottingham and called the police to actually ask for one LOL, the trip had been hell, all Banbury police had give me was a route and told me I needed a second man, first turn I came to I couldn’t get round so I went the other way to the police station and asked them to sort it out

I met one on a similar road to the IP last week on fairly blind bend. He also had no ■■■■■■ vehicle running ahead. Luckily we were both taking it steady and stopped in good time. Strangely, whenever i see them on DC’s, (with more room) they always have an ■■■■■■.
