DO NOT GO WITH THE MARITIME ‘BUY WITH WORK’ SCHEME!!!

ok how do i move it and i forgot to mention i will be starting out with a flat bed van as i believe this would be easier to work my way up rather than jumping in at the deepn end and im only 21

PM any of the moderators and ask them to move it to the correct forum for you

Have you got all your licenses?? Best thing I would say is, wait untill your 25 then give it a go. Insurance mate will be horrific not to mention u will have to run that truck into the ground and have virtually no life for the first 2 years to start making it work, therefor social life goes out the window. Trust me, I’m 22 and used to go out in the week, now I don’t have a life midweek coz I’m to knackered to do anything. It ain’t all chrome fuel tanks, stacks and spotlights mate.

Sensible and with any luck you’ll make as much if not more than you will with a heavy and with A LOT LESS HASSLE!

yer thats what i thought i know the route i want to go down i no the cost and what not its just im stuck on best place to find work, i dont have a van yet as this is just an idea which i hope to put into practice,

What area are you in?

derby mate

Well at least you’re in reasonable distance of Birmingham and other areas where there’s likely to be a need for light haulage.

I don’t know your area very well so can’t suggest names or places to contact. Ideally if you can get a van on the road without entering into any finance agreements that will give you breathing space. Look for parcels firms who use subbies, a phone call to all the known ones might throw something up. Local cab firms get jobs that are too big for a car and might pass work on. Speak to everyone you know to see if any of the companies they work for might use your services. Other established firms in the same line of work as you will sometimes have an overflow of work, find them. Know what your real costs are. If you don’t charge enough for the work you’re no more than a charity. How much do you want for a days work with your own van? It’s tough times out there but with a van you don’t have massive start up costs. No-one will be beating a path to your door. That’s your job! Good luck!

thankyou mate will be taken on board thanks
