Haha I got to my first drop and struggled to undo it as there was too much tension! That’s what a newbie is about huh?? [emoji38] Happy with how it panned out after but still stressed at same time my head is working overtime already thinking about tomorrow! Do I do manual entry in morning now because I haven’t set it to rest before ejecting??
No need to do a manual entry for leaving the tacho on other work. After withdrawing your card…Although it might be good practice to do it.So you get the hang of manual entries…
I’d suggest you play the Newbie card and ask another driver to show you how to do a manual entry just to be safe mate!
That way you’ll know for the future…

I think I know how to do one I’m just uncertain wether I can leave it this once as other work. Do you normally sets yours to rest before ejecting?

I never have and not had a problem, but I’ve heard rumours of issues on this topic. Whether they are true or not I don’t know…
A manual entry saying you’ve been on rest would fix the issue though.

dosen’t matter what you leave it on when ejecting! just remember to do your manual entry correctly the next day.
Done 8am till 7.50pm today so nearly 12 hours. Had the full 45 by about 1.45 today so all reset to zero. When I’ve downloaded card at end of shift it said break infringement(or too those words). My driving time was about 2hours 40minutes getting back I’m guessing it’s because didn’t have a 15 minute break before the next 6 hours which would have ended about 7.45 pm? Literally unloading in yard has cost me??

Exactly so, if you’ve worked more than 6 hours since your break, you should have had 15 minutes break to cover it. Now for the sake of 5 minutes, you are unlikely to find yourself in the big house. But ask yourself this, if you only spent 2 hours 40 driving out of 6 hours 5 minutes, could you not have snuck a 15 minute in somewhere in that block. I’m sure answer will be yes, if getting him early with a clean card is important to you.
Alternatively have the extra 15 before you unload in the yard… Whatever suits you better.

Thanks for reply. I was rushing to get back as it had been a long day and wanted to get home. Still no excuse I should have stopped.
And there I was trying to ram it home in vein that you can’t work more than 6 hours in one block at any point in your shift!
As a Newbie I’m sure you’re trying to be a model employee, but I can tell you that most drivers bend the rules a little and will sneak in a little break here and there during their day that the firm won’t really know about.
TIP: Once you finish a drop, take a 15 at that location so it doesn’t show up on the tracker that you’re sleeping in a layby. And If you get questioned about it by the firm (assuming they look closely at your tacho), say you were still working and just trying to keep your working hours down for the benefit of the company!
Also, do not try to tear the arse out of a round in an effort to impress the management, the other drivers won’t thank you for it, and as soon as you set the bar high, you’ll be expected to jump over it every time…
It was getting on and I was desperate to get home! Haha Still no excuse. I tell you what though I’ve learnt hell of a lot over these three days. Your training and test really don’t put into perspective what you really deal with, reversing out of some tight deliveries etc Today was hell of a lot better day I’m getting to grip with how the yard runs in morning now to load you up and start your day and then doing returns in afternoon. All fun!
