As a noob I accept I will have to start at the bottom and work my way up, i.e lower wage increasing with experience. I’m just wondering, how long does bottom last. 2 years?

Not necessarily. Maritime are always looking for drivers, a couple of our Polish Drivers went to them last year (running out of Tosco, Fanny ■■■■) & one of them hadn’t been on class 1 over a year.
I thought Stobbies take on Newbies, so they can train you up ‘Their Way’.
As said previously, not necessarily two years , it is possible that some other job offer may be available to you, or maybe you will plod on for a couple of years or so. You may not necessarily start on a low wage either. Its swings & roundabouts , sometimes its just being in the right place at right time. And how to present yourself properly.
