Started new job today

Started my new job today working for a T P N branch doing multidrop and it’s been really nice to be doing something rather than sitting in lousy rdc bored stiff. Started at 8am and was leaving the yard at 4:30pm near enough brand new unit too.

Cool, you might loose a bit of weight too tubby!

Congrats on the new job. I quite enjoy doing the pallet network stuff myself. Not so much the work, but its Monday to Friday, 8am starts and normally on my way home for 5.30pm every night aspect I like.[emoji4]

As soon as I can afford to drop some income they are the sort of jobs i’ll be looking at.

Baldy - how many drops a day are you looking at in an artic?

I’ve just applied for a new job and I had to make out my first ever CV , but doubt whether I will get it but you never know. Won’t say how much per hour as you wouldn’t believe me

The TPN depot I’ve run out of in an artic has had maybe half a dozen drops and a handful of collections, usually works out around 8-10 combined at the most.

For most depots the last night trunk wagon isn’t turning up with that days deliveries until 7.30-8am and the first ones are out the door mid/late afternoon with most depots having their final ones leaving around 8pm. So for most I’ve done you turn up around 8am, are loaded up by around 8.30-9am and back in the yard around 4.30-5, park up and leave the forkies to unload.

Very greatly doubt it’s for Moray Councils new dredger they are having built for a cool £2.4 million ! Some one of the selection committees ‘friends’ will get it, he’s likely to know he’s got it already so probably only going thru’ the motions of advertising it as it’s in the councils employment policy. Got some right brown nose people in the harbour dept. around here.

Slightly different from my setup that does, TPN, XPO, HazChem & a few other bits…
We start at 7am, trucks are often but not always loaded, so generally out of the yard between 8 & 9. Then it’s approx 10 drops and maybe 2 collections before going back to the depot. We then queue to be unloaded in the warehouse ,before parking up for the night.
Obviously hanging about to be unloaded takes extra time, but I’m being paid to stand about, so can’t complain!
Generally I’m done by 5 or 6 pm, and if it’s earlier, I wash the truck…

Ive been told about 10 drops most and 90% of them are in the same post code area, I never thought I would enjoy this type of work but after doing general haulage for a bit and regularly dragging my body out of bed at 4 am finishing at 6pm and spending half my day spoken to like muck by rdc staff and spending hours on end staring at a waiting room coffee machine it’s a really nice change.

I did class 2 for a mob on u-p-n, started 6am checking and loading pallets onto 5+trucks including my own, had between 10-15drops, then around 4-5 collections. All in a tight postcode area, never managed more than 125miles a day. Reload 2 double decker’s when I got back and was finished around 7pm, Sometimes later especially around busy times, week/day before bank holiday/Easter/Xmas. I was on good money doing it, for class 2 anyway. But job was stressing me out,and got tired of not seeing family, I would literally get in, have shower and go to bed!

I was offered a new job other day it is slightly better money better hours although still day work but a bit more involved no much yep know what they do sounds more interesting bit not sure if I am going to take it

Does it have a tail-lift?

They have a couple of urban trailers that have tail lifts.

I’m picking up my brand new black Pallex liveried trailer from the hire company tomorrow morning. Complete with tail lift.[emoji22]
