Start of working day

Where I work, for the night shift that I’m on. We have to phone in the morning to get our start time. It’s a pain in the haris as we never know exactly when we should be getting up until we’re already awake. We are told to leave it 9 hours after we finish before we phone in but we start our day later. Seems to me that phone call should constitute the start of the working day, even if we’re instantly on poa or break. I can’t see see anything in the rules where this sort of admin task is accommodated outside the working day.

Does anyone know better.

I think stobrats got done for something similar not too long ago.

Yep, they did.

I wouldn’t be phoning in till I’ve at least had my 11 off not a reduced 9 hour.

Hi there

I had this problem and took some advice on here.
I asked the manager if they could put it in writing so I could send a copy to the head office to see if phoning in half way threw my rest period was correct…They didn’t and stated that I will be told every day when I finish!
