Start of training (Cat C) Northampton

So, tomorrow i start my Cat C training with LGV Trainers Northampton. If anyone has any tips etc i would be grateful! Feeling confident and a little nervous but really looking forward to it if im honest

You will be fine , just listen , take things slow at first , be very nosy in ya mirrors , if you take your time to get right gears before a junction you will have loads of time to assess a safe manoeuvre and most of all enjoy it and we look forward to congratulating you on your pass ,
All the best
Jennie

If in doubt ask your instructor or on here

Good luck & remember those mirrors

Come back with a sore neck on day one and you probably still haven’t done quite enough mirror checks

Remember to listen to your instructor. They have done it hundreds of times.

Good luck

goodluck you can do it just listen listen listen to your instuctor , and you will have a bad day training we all did

Thanks for the responses, It’s appreciated. I have been trying to use the mirrors as much as possible, even to the point when i was driving with a mate he asked if i thought we were being followed! Haha!

Find a proper driving school :sunglasses:

you want to be dancing on them mirrors, 40% front 60% back!! follow everything from front of lorry to back of lorry people, bus stops cars posts everything visible  time time to fimilarise yoirself with the lorry, its size, gears etc, let us know how ya go, good luck

Thanks all for the mirror tips, my neck aches and I still didn’t check them each time I moved/slowed etc! Will keep at it.
Today went well i think, few mistakes with the gears which I expected. Getting the hang of it generally and most importantly really enjoying it!

I do know what you mean. I was excited about my training from day to day although tired by the end of the training from all the intensity

A tip that helped me to use the mirrors, was to turn the car interior mirror down and just use the wing mirrors.

They have a new Artic according to their site. But nothing about any new rigids

Who’s your instructor? They were all pretty good blokes there. Are you in the DAF or the Blue Scania?

Just remember mirrors for pretty much everything you go past, pedestrians, vans and so on. Also don’t be afraid to take the extra room you need, like at the roundabout opposite Matalan. Kept forgetting the first couple of days and mounting the kerb -.-.
