I would have thought it pretty obvious you’d need basic numeracy skills when most of the work is multi-drop and involves delivering multiple packs of different products distributed across several roll cages? As for literacy - how else is the driver to follow written instructions?
Judging from the OP’s post, it certainly wasn’t a grammar based test!!
Seriously, I wonder how long it will be before all driving jobs require an English test? Do Peeps think an A-level in English would get you out of it?!
The blokes at willenhall depot are great blokes, I can’t remember what the issue is in their yard but there is something you have to be careful not to hit, ask and they will tell you.
Cross your fingers now, prey each night that you don’t get on the coop run, 2 shops are somewhat difficult to back onto.
Wisemans are spot on, you’ll get all the hours you want, (my opinion) don’t argue, don’t moan, don’t brown nose and you’ll be fine.
At Willenhall you get free milk in the canteen, which is rare. Take sandwiches and flask first day as you probably won’t get a key for the vending machine.
I haven’t worked for them, I drove a subbies truck.
Good luck and Well Done for getting a permanent job its hard these days .I waited nearly a year to get a chance after passing my class 2 Got a permanent job now but was frustrating waiting for the opportunity (Been There 5 months now ) Enjoy it and Learn from the more experienced drivers Valuable experience you cant get in anywhere else Good luck for the future and Happy New Year …
Happy New year guys and thanks for all your responses, I have just finished working at my last place and don’t start working at wisemans till the 13th of jan. Until then I am getting in a lot of down time and getting the nursey ready, me and my wife are expecting our first baby in march
About the literacy and numeracy test, well both are only 10 questions each and you have to get at least 8 correct in each test, its very basic in all honesty. I am really happy because as a newly passed driver of 2 months I did not expect to get this opportunity and also with the baby coming and my wife going on maternity leave I felt as though there was a lot of pressure but now hopefully we will have a more secure year. Hey guys if it helps to any local people in bham, I do know that Robert wisemans are still looking for more class2 drivers for there willenhall depot, hey guys they took me on and I am a newbie so to all you newbies or more experience guys out there who are looking for work get onto wisemans asap, and I am more than happy to answer any questions that may help if you get an interview etc, hey us truckers have to look out for one another So happy new year again guys and take care
Good luck, so long as you can cope with the start times Wiseman’s is a good gig, especially as the moneys quite good for Class 2 work. You will probably have some ■■■■■■ days in the first month or so as you get your head around all the different milk lines & managing the back of the wagon as you collect empties etc. Once you have that sorted though and know some runs the jobs pretty comfortable, I didn’t break sweat very often. Just remember your paid by the hour and on time and a half after 39 hrs
