Start driving tomorrow!

Hey, some of you know that I passed my class 2 a few weeks ago. Well this week I have been doing my class 1 training and had my test on Friday which I’m glad to say, I passed!
I have been working for a local firm on Saturday mornings since March this year, just helping out in the workshop and doing a bit of shunting. The firm has paid for both my class 2/1 training and test which I will be paying back each week. Me being stupid, completely forgot to send off for my digi card until Thursday so can only drive a lorry with tacho disc…this issue I was lead to believe that the firm no longer owned any lorries that weren’t digi tacho. So would have to wait until I get me card back until I can go on the road.
I went into work yesterday morning to he told the boss has found me a truck for me to drive, I was excited…I was then told that it was the bosses truck that I’ll be driving!!! It’s the only one of the fleet in a different colour and is a Daf CF 85/430.
Tomorrow I have been told I’m taking another drivers trailer to Ipswich somewhere to be loaded, I will have the driver in the cab with me to help me out and tell me where I’m going and then once loaded head back to the yard for the driver to then take the trailer onto where ever it is it’s going.
I don’t know if I’m excited or nervous lol as it’s my first day driving with a driver I haven’t met and going somewhere I haven’t been before in a lorry that only the boss and one other driver has driven since the firm bought it.

Wish me luck

That’s brilliant! The advice is obvious; listen to the experienced man (who you should keep supplied with tea) and don’t rush. Loads of the normal pressure is off as you dont have to plan your route etc.

Learn as much as you can cos you’re going to need to know as much as possible before going it alone.

Enjoy!

And yet another one in the eye for the “no work for newbies” brigade!!

Pete

Congratulations on the pass , and have a ball tomorrow as has been said you have an experienced driver with you so all pressure off just enjoy and take in all the advice he has to offer ,
good luck

Thanks guys…have put everything in the boot of my car so will get to the yard early to put the essentials in before heading off.
