Start 1st HGV 2 Job Tommorrow

motoman:
Well that my 1st day in the new job, Started at 4 am
First job is to Sort out the milk in the back off the lorry into cages and route order  didnt remember that bit in the interview !! With the range off products etc this took about 1 and half hours to do in the back off a fridge lorry

Got that done then off to do deliveries, the other guy did the driving to give me a chance to learn the route.
Deliveries were ok just the usual fighting for parking spaces on busy main streets.
You have to man handle the cages the milk is in which is harder than i thought as these things have a mind off there own and get stuck on uneven surfaces :smiling_imp:

We have to make up some order at the drop as the customer changes the order !!!
We finished the deliveries on time, got back to the depot and as it was wash day had to wash the lorry, then remove returned milk and trolleys, return paperwork and fuel the truck.
Its been a bit off an eye opener and it was just my 1st day but got lots to learn.

Doing some driver training tomorrow and start at 8am, then back to the job on Fri and Sat.

Think it will be an early night tonight. LOL

Sounds like a good 1st shift - night night zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

dont drive too fast or it turns into yoghurt too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi All
Been in the new job for a week now, driving for the last 3 days and really enjoying it. The early starts are not to bad and seem to be getting a bit easier.

Learning the products is still a bit puzzling, and making up your orders in the fridge at 4am is not ideal !!

One benefit is i finish at 1.30pm on this run so have some free time in the afternoons, Get Sundays off and a day through the week ,the wages are ok compared to some jobs i have seen advertised.

Overall getting on fine but will find out next week how it really is, when i am sent out to do the run on my own

Glad to hear it, what have they given you to drive mate?

Alex
