It transpires that Stafflines payroll dept has screwed up while processing the wages for 854 PAYE employees, they’ve changed the tax code for these (inc me) to 0T so in effect the 854 have zero income tax allowance and will pay higher rates similar to basic tax until the error is corrected
Someone will be for the highjump . They usually put you on the normal basic tax code unless they receive notification from HMRC .
I had to get my codes rotated by HMRC when I was doing agency work alongside my usual casual employment.
My allowances had been assigned to the agency that I did the least work for and my main employment had no allowances and I was paying tax on every penny earned . It did give me a nice rebate when it got sorted .

The BS excuse from them is that they’ve been using new back office software, so far since this was done they’ re-enrolled me into the pension scheme which I’ve opted out, issued me with a P45 while I’m still on the job, and screwed up the PAYE. I did try phoning the payroll at head office but gave up when the automated telephone system told me I was #48 in the queue.
The local agents who run the office tell me they are at their whits end with drivers etc giving them earache but can’t contact payroll to fix things
It is the last week of the financial year this week, and I would imagine if anyone has paid “too much tax” of late, then a rebate will be coming their way in short order.
I was docked W1/M1 tax this week, meaning I paid 20% on the whole lot, rather than 20% on the excess over about the first £210.
I expect to get that back in the next fortnight, via my pay.

Who the hell does that? You understand you not only gave yourself a 3% pay cut because you lose the employers contribution but you also added 1% to your tax bill because the money that would’ve been paid into the pension tax free will now be taxed when paid out as take home?
You’ve literally volunteered to make yourself £1000 or more a year poorer.
Was this through Staffline directly or via DriverExchange that Staffline and some other agencies are now moving to ?
My local agency office (Not Staffline) are switching to DriverExchange with some of their clients and there’s been 1 or few bugs to be worked out - They have yet to switch payroll to be via Driver Exchange thank goodness.

Bloody hell Conor, don’t tell me you’re having pangs of conscience .
The last time I read that post (pre edit) it started with ‘‘What sort of idiot does that’’… you must be slipping mate, as being a regular complete arrogant arse does not usually bother you on here.
