did I see speed over 40 on single carriageway ?
Gps speed is not 100 percent accurate…
Yes I was slightly over… No reason for it
Slightly? 47mph at the overtake. GPS speed is more accurate than a speedo mostly.
Although the motorcyclist was cutting it bit fine I did note that it was obvious what was unfolding from a long way ahead.
Also noticed how your speedo showed no sign of reduction throughout the situation in fact it moves from 46 to 47 at or around the point the motorcyclists cuts in.
I would have lifted (and been prepared to brake) at the moment I saw what was happeneing but then thats just me I suppose.
Nothing here a professional driver would be proud of.
GPS was showing 50 at one point thats enough for me that you where speeding.
I definitely slowed down but the gps speed does have a lag, I honestly thought he was passing 1 car

Just watched again and noticed you slowed down after the incident if there is a lag (which would mean you slowed down as the incident unfolded) that would explain it and I withdraw my earlier comment.
There is massive lag in the mph your were stationary at the junction for a good 3-4 seconds and it was still showing 6mph. Anyway I have been closer than that A LOT closer in my younger days on motorbikes, the rider wont even put that down as a near miss. Was that the Moorley road from Heanor to Derby?
People are quick to jump the gun and start pointing the finger before getting all the facts
Crazy motorcyclist
It’s totally irrelevant that you was a bit over the speed limit, to be honest I don’t know why people have even mentioned it
The motorcyclist left it much too late, he could have pulled in between the cars and there would have been no problem, we all make mistakes but the motorcyclist was cutting it way too fine in my opinion.

We’re not serious are we on this matter, you’re pulling our legs aren’t you?!
Afraid not on our little GPS recievers. We don’t have the necessary corrections to calculate the true position using the satellite code to the receiver code alone to obtain such great accuracies. The lag is quite a lot, even in position, let alone a moving target and wanting to calculate its speed.
That goes for any brand of off the shelf road going sat nav regardless of cost too.
In certain circumstances its not unusual to be out by a lot of metres in positional accuracy in good conditions! Trust me when it comes to using cm accuracy with GPS the best you can get. You’re relying more on the data transmissions from mobile phone/data network processing all the neccessary corrections to do your final checks for position rather than the actual base code on your reciever.
If you want to avoid the tickets I’d trust the speedo with its own inaccuracies rather than the GPS. That poor little thing is trying to process all the bases coding and then give you its best guesstimate of a speed measurement to rely on.
It won’t end pretty when up against a copper on a laser or a camera.
PS The motorcyclist was certainly cutting it fine that’s for sure, as that was what the OP was actually about!
C
according to track manager at mira sat nav is the speed they use for fuel/speed testing. it’s more accurate that car speedo.

You can get Very accurate Gps speedometers but the standard sat nav is not that accurate

I can’t remember the road name but the road I turned right off was cat and fiddle lane in West hallam.
The Gps lag is quite bad watching it back

I appreciate the comment and agree that the motorcyclist left it way too late but either way I should not have been speeding… If the worst happened then it would be another front page “Maniac driver arrested for thundering down a straight road and killing a motorcyclist…”
Cameras are a great idea but in this case it does point out I was speeding (which I hardly ever do as I am paid by the hour)
Sorry Kevin but I’m not seeing what’s so newsworthy about this. Have you only just passed your test and this is your first time out in a truck on your own? When you’ve got some experience you’ll quickly realise that this kind of bad driving/riding is commonplace and happens umpteen times a day to most of us. It’s how you deal with it that matters. No-one/nothing got hurt/damaged/injured so simply forget about it and on you go.

^^^^ This. Dash cameras have become more common over the last year and it seems people are almost getting desperate for something to happen in front of then just so they can put it on the interweb.
The result is endless videos of drivers pulling on/off slip roads late and poor lane changes etc - or as I like to call it “Everyday life behind the wheel”
Some drivers really let themselves down - there was one clown who got so stressed and angry that a car pulled onto an off slip road in front of him I thought his heart would explode with the rage.
In the last 6 months I could have posted plenty of clips but they just haven’t been that interesting. My most interesting video so far is two foxes chasing each other to mate being squashed at the same time on the M27 by me in lane 1 and a car in lane 2. Needless to say, I’ve not put it in the Internet as its just not worth wasting your life watching.

The car driver actually checks the damage on the front of his car before checking on the biker he’d just hit??
No comments on fault or anything, but the 1 accident I had when someone tried shoving my truck out of it’s lane with their Picasso, I got out to make sure she was alright, then checked damage, then went ■■■■■■’ ballistic at her

I’d have done the same! Biker played with fire and got burnt. Got to be the ultimate height of stupidity to brake test a tonne of fast moving metal when you’re on a bike.
