Feel really sorry for the ECM driver. Probably out of a job . We all make mistakes, yes this is a big one, but anyone who has driven transporters will know this is your worst nightmare. Doesn’t look like the front deck was raised so should have been ok. Just hope he measured it. At least then he has some defense if the bridge is incorrectly marked or not marked at all. We can all laugh but really we are thinking thank god that’s not me!
It’s been hit with a fair amount of force to bend the rear top deck and crush the van underneath.
Well i can’t see any Bridge Height markings in the vid or on google pic…can you?
Bit flimsy those vauxhalls if you ask me. I’d go for a vw myself a bit more expensive but defiantly stronger.
Just a thought, if he’s come from a storeage compound this must be a regular collection point for Vauxhall vans, I’m sure they’re assembled in Luton, do they have a height “goalpost” like you’d sometimes see on motorway roadworks, at the exit of the compound just as a bit of insurance.
I know transporter drivers carry a measuring stick but something basic has gone badly wrong here.
Is there any way that deck could have raised once under way?
I see car transporters running that route every day taking vans from the IBC/Vauxhall plant to the compound at Chaul End near J11, just off A505.
Not sure why this one didn’t fit under the bridge??
