The driver will definitely looking at 2 years custody for dangerous driving.
Oh dear, that’s bad, let’s hope ALL the injured recover.
Wasn’t Oldham was Eccles / Salford yesterday.
Barton lane.
Not far from b q Trafford park .
If anyone knows the area.
There’s a low bridge on bus route.
I’d say this happens once every few years a bus hits it.
Obviously the driver is 100/% at fault.
But. Seriously if your alllocatong buses for buses routes you should know there’s a low bridge on the route and allocate a bus that’s low enough
I am hoping that, as the high backs of the seats seem to have come through unscathed that there will be no fatalities amongst the injured.
I’m sure I’ve seen a sign for a low bridge while delivering to b&q , essisity / p&g Trafford park etc over the years
Must admit with this new mob you have to take a pic of the height marker while doing you lorry checks , and pic of height marker / height on tri when doing your tri checks , not so sure it will stop you hitting a bridge but at least your height marker will be set correctly when you do hit the bridge , hopefully , and the office will have a pic of your height marker / tri height
The bus driver has been charged with causing serious injury by careless driving.
Out b n q turn right over the canal bridge n low bridge is on the right at traffic lights. Is also a metal beam before hand to stop you also there used to be maybe still is them metal chains that hang down as well.
Doesn’t help though that road dips down then back up at the bridge.
Either way no excuse and not first time a bus as come stuck there and no doubt will happen again in the future
Oh that is great news. I’ll sleep more soundly today knowing that

Same thing same place another bus from 2023.
Over years have been few more incidents busses getting stuck or wedged but thankfully not many that serious like this
Edd, if the driver regularly drives a single decker, do you think he simply forgot he was in a double decker?
Who knows
. Guess being bus driver is different to trucks in a truck you can get sent anyware and go different ways to get there. So obviously you have to watch out for low bridges.
In a bus it does a set route .
so guess drives become complacent don’t worry to much about low bridges especially if they have done the route a lot.
And surely who ever allocates buses should know there’s low bridges on this route etc.
No excuse the driver though is his fault totally.
But yeah who knows what goes on in a drivers
head when they approach a low bridge.
Do they panic n go for it in hope?
Do they hope for best in fear of embarrassment of having to stop do a u turn?
Do they maybe think there still in a car?
Surely this day and age with all the technology
thery could put sensors radar or something on the truck that detects your to high and apply a the brakes for you before it’s to late.
Or gives off a audio warning low bridge stop.
Be better use of technology than mirroless etc
It’ll haunt the poor bugga for the rest of his life.
He made a serious mistake, hands up those of us who have never made a mistake.
Luckily no fatalities.
