One of the McBurney lads ended up nighted out Xmas Eve at the Hollies. He ran out of time due to some hole in Northfleet taking forever to tip him. He ran back in at 4am Xmas day. It wouldn’t really bother me as I hate Xmas anyway.
There’s a Spaniard parked up asleep on the a570 just coming out of Southport, so guess he was here over Xmas too.

I drove from Manchester to Tidworth on Christmas Day setting off at 4am (in my car I might add) and only saw a total of 6 HGVs and all going the other way. Three were tankers.
I also saw a nice Police man who politley asked me to slow down on a totally empty motorway when I was sitting on cruise at 80mph. He didn’t even wave as he passed me, pulled in front and dropped down to 70mph forcing me to slow … but at least he didn’t pull me. 
there is 5 or so euro trucks parked up in the industrial estates round here in redditch…2 of them parked on the A435 on xmas day along with 1 parked in the layby a short walk away with xmas lights over the cab…
There’s 2 Spaniards parked in the laybye near Morrisons Gadbrook, been there since sunday. Also a Bulgy parked outside Guiness at Preston Brook, been there since last friday

Saw a Hovis powder tanker joining the M6 sb J20 about 5pm, a Norbert Dinglydangly powder tank M62 eb J8 shortly after. Then coming home to Middlewich from Ellesmere, Shrops between 1am-2am this morning, saw a total of 5 cars for the whole journey, and a 4 wheeler Volvo rigid ragsider on the A500 at Nantwich
What’s the going rate these days for working Christmas Day?
I never got asked to do it myself - presumably because no firm wants to pay the premium involved?
Most yards are shut for the day of course, but I would guess that anyone wanting to do it for ordinary pay is either of foreign ethnicity/religion or has already lost their family long ago?
