Sponsered Ladies Driving Challenge

It all started when I was approached by Brian Pratt from WTTL who have trained me for my Cat C and C + E to drive their articulated exhibition unit to a sponsored ladies driving challenge on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Charity. This was the first time I was let loose in an Artic as I have been trained on Wagon and Drag.

Agreeing to this we set of today at 6.30am to collect the unit from Devizes and drive to Colerne near Bath

After negotiating tight lanes and roundabouts we finally arrive in Colerne at 08.00 in one piece and with no damage and Brian’s nerves intact.
We then parked up next to a Cemex tipper and 2 Royal Mail Artic’s from the Swindon Branch.

Sitting around for a while whilst waiting for the first Lady participants to arrive we decided to chill out and get to know some of the drivers who kindly agreed to volunteer their services for this charity event.

Left to Right: Stuart, Steve, Keith, Kev, Keith and finally DDDDave who knew Brian and last met him 20 years ago as they served together in the RAF.

At the appointed time the ladies started arriving, some in groups and some individually.
This group being one of the first called themselves Crazy Chicks.

The show is now well and truly underway and all wagons are on the move being driven by or attempted to be driven by the sponsored ladies.
