Hi all,
I was wanting to ask if anyone on here has some photos of those splitting container trailers. Also, if you run with these trailers, can you show a step by step guide to how they split/join. That would be great.
When on containers, I used to see alot of these and I have always liked them (but never seen them being split. Normally seen with a 40 or 45 on top.
Also, are splitting trailers only for containers, or can you get box/curtain/other trailers that can be split.
Cheers, sorry for all the request.
Andy
How do them trailers work with your o licence, do you need to register it as 2 trailers?

Hello
If you goto - http://www.lorryspotteruk.com/PMP.html This shows my lorry with 2x20ft NYK’s
The Link you were given in the second post is the only one I know of at this time with a demo of the trailer on it. (Dennisons).
As for the third post where the user asked about plating etc - I believe because both parts of the Dennison Trailer can be pulled by the Tractor Unit they are plated/MOT seprately.
Brilliant piece’s of kit to use but if you get into a tizz using it/splitting it, you usually end up knaffing it right up and looking a right arse.
There is a Holland & French Company which pull split box trailers so I cannot see why they don’t have curtainside one’s either.
James
PS. Sorry I have not got a photo avail. to post here at the moment. Have been taken of the trailer for a while as I was doing Fowler Welch Reefer work, and only just got back on to container work.

Thanks for that James. Very interesting. I did not know both parts could be towed seprately. It would be great to find pics of that splitting box set up you talk about. I could have swore I saw one once before.
Thanks again.

(not wishing to foist stereotypes on you, but…) That’s the Dutch for ya!!!

Maes of Belgium have a similar set up with “box” trailers, its a very clever system.
I saw them in action on the “garments” in Monistir, Tunisia. It saved them a fortune when it came to loading at differnet factories, they just dropped one, let the ■■■■■■■■ load it, whilst the other went to another gaff, and loaded.
