Split rest

Hi all,
Looking to clear up a query regarding split rest
Does it have to be a 3 and a 9 or can it be for example a 5 and a 7 or 6 and 6?
As long as the 12 hours rest is taken within a 24 hour period in two separate uninterrupted periods?

The first part has to be 3 hours or more then the final part 9 hours and this will count as an 11 hour break

As said, the first part of a split daily rest period has to be no less than 3 consecutive hours rest, the second part has to be no less than 9 consecutive hours rest and it all has to be completed within 24 hours from the start of the shift.

All a split rest really means is that a reduced rest counts as a non-reduced rest if you’ve had three hours on rest during the shift. You still have to have an absolute minimum of 9 hours off during the relevant period.
