Split daily rest?

Has the ability to take to the bunk for 3 continuous hours and still do another 15 been removed?

A 12 Hour daily rest period can be split into two, the first being no less than 3 Hours, the second no less than 9 (This does not class as a Reduced Daily Rest).

This allows a driver to split a Regular Daily Rest, though a total of 12 hours must be taken within the 24 hour reference period.

The first, minimum 3 hour rest period, that would be taken during the working day must be continuous (unbroken), as must the final 9 hour period.

If you mean can you do a 15 hour spread-over that includes a 3 hour rest period during the shift without it counting as a reduced daily rest period the answer is yes you can still do that.

What made you think it may have been removed

You can do it upto 6 times a week if it fits in with your work.

I was talking to a guy in a RDC! His firm was pushing hin do it. He asked vosa who told him it wasn’t allowed no more.
My opinion was you can’t be made to take a split daily rest but it is legal then another guy piped up that I was wrong.

This. All it means if you have 3 hours off during you shift is that you can take 9 off at the end of it and it counts as a non-reduced rest. So you could do it every day if you wanted.

As to whether you can be made to do it, yes you can. It is a reasonable request in that it complies with the law.
