Split Daily Rest

In my job I’m very very rarely on break long enough for SDR (about twice in 3 years) so I’m always cautious of knowing exactly where I am with it.

Today I started at 06:00. During my shift I had a continuous break of 3 hours and 5 minutes. I finished my shift at 18:30 and tomorrow I’m starting at 05:00. So 10 hours 30 minutes daily rest. Do I treat this as I’m not reducing because of the 3 hours break today?

You’re good mate, you could start at 03.30 if you needed to

Yes you can count it as a split daily rest period.

Having said that, be aware that to have a split daily rest period you should have 3 consecutive hours of rest not break.

Tell a pedantic DVSA bod that you wasn’t free to do as you wanted and he may be asking why you’ve counted it as rest.

Sent from my mobile.

Oh well at least the load is fully strapped with internals and each pallet is under 400kgs so said pedantic Officer can’t moan about that.
