Speedy Sainsburys

Have they upped the limiters on their trucks? Seen a few of their wagons on the motorway and only just creep past them now as opposed to the old ‘take drastic action as they’re doing 20mph’. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a slow moving sainsburys.

I passed one on the A34 yesterday and thought he was going faster. Thankfully he dropped to 45ish in the 50 bit at Botley so I got passed easily.
More shocking I’m sure I saw a Tescos doing 49 a few days ago!
:open_mouth:

NFT pull sainsburys trailers plus seeing as it almost Christmas they probably got hire motors in.

All the duel fuel trucks are now set for 56 MPH and still return over 20 MPG.

When we had the cng 113s and erfs at safeway it was a false economy. The did twice the mpg, but had half the range of a diesel and the gas was half the price. Pound for pound they cost the same to run, but we were limited on the runs you could do. Welwyn to Diss and back was a squeaky pants moment. I ran out of gas once, not half a mile from the yard. Cost £300 to do that last half mile

Had a sainsbury wagon overtake me tuesday night down the A38 probably due to a trailer full of 24 tonnes of sugar well thats my excuse anyway lol   .

We can easily do the return trip to Cornwall and we also have fuel cards to top up on diesel should the need arise. A full tank of diesel by itself will do about 450 K. So I can’t fully understand how you can run out of gas and not carried on with diesel.

They weren’t dual fuel. 100% gas

i had a tesco tanker over take me last week on the m25…i was sitting at 56.i’d say he was doing a strong 56

They seem to getting faster. Both Tesco and sainos. Morrisons pass me like I’m parked up. Its embarrassing when a trolley dolly over takes u on a dual. Always thought they were blue eyed drivers. No sir yes sir, sit on the limiter? no sir. Have they scrapped the blue eyed driver bonus?

Probly realise they’ll be short of drivers at crimbo so have upped the limiters to compensate!

Would the tankers be subcontracted to another firm though?

I’m always a bit naughty through Botley

Those tankers are run by ND, tosco have new 63 axors that’ll never touch 50mph…

I’ve been left for dust by the odd Asda, Morrison, Dhl motor & it still baffles me, either the driver is limited or it’s a one off that someone accidentally forgot to knock down to snail pace.

Depending on the time of day, where it was and if it was a curtain wider it was probably me - I’m not known as “chainsaw” by other drivers for the slowness I do

So’ve I; It’s one of the best places to pass dawdling Tom and Doris that will speed up as you pass but always do 40 through Botley.

Talking of Botley, the cops are raising money for their Xmas party and are collecting more and more regularly on the A420 bridge.
…A shame they don’t fine those who think they can force their way in off the slip roads.
