Speeding ticket through milton A34

sorr yforgot to post this up, hopefully i should find out whats what with this in the next week or so

got a NIP for doing 49mph in a 40mph zone at 0131

but the markers it has me speeding at are in the 50mph limit :open_mouth: :unamused: filled in the nip and put a nice letter in there for them to read showing my tacho at 01.29 to 01.33 i was doing 55kmh and the 1st camera is at 65.10 50mph limit, then the next camera is at 65.3 which is the start of the 40mph limit, so how can i be speeding at 49mph between 65.3 to 65.7 when this is a 50mph limit

so if anyone gets any tickets for speeding through there make sure you check the markers 65.3 is where the 40 limits starts my ticket was for 65.3 to 65.7 which is the wrong way round to start with unless i was reversing up the southbound carriage way

and if im right, it needs to go public to see how many people have been shafted with this

Theres a 40mph zone there?

Was it a temporarily reduced limit for the roadworks? All I can think of.

northbound through the roadworks at milton island it starts as a 50 limit then after about half a mile goes down to 40 past the island…has always been like that as far as im aware?
has anyone got a ticket yet for going through the 8 foot width limit southboundā– ā– ?

The sign for 40 mph from the 50 mph can easily not be seen, it is a money spinner and a trap.
They lead drivers in a false sense of security
who may assume it is a 50 limit until the end of average speed check, and at night, you could miss the 40 limit sign as there is only one.

You missed the signs in the dark put strategically near the speed camera floodlights.

I missed them but fortunately got away with it

Very sneaky practice, especially when the limit is reduced to 50 then 40.

dropbox.com/s/bkjd0r7pzo7tj … 8.MOV?dl=0

Remember, the camera sees better in the dark than a mk1 eyeball, especially whilst averting ye eyes from the inevitable blindness from the big flood light for the SCAMera.

EDIT : Just read the OP properly… The only 2 active cameras in the stretch is in the 40 limit. I wonder why. :unamused: anyway, the inaccuracies in the NIP are irrelevant as they would amend the details if it went to court.

You can see which cameras are actually active because they have flood lights near them and as you can see from the dash cam footage, the IR Lights are on and show up clearly on any camera.

Yes I know the video is Southbound. But it is the same NB active cameras only in the 40 limit

Was there a thread on here a while ago claiming these Average Speed Cameras didn’t work? Not having a pop at Si or anybody but they obviously do

I don’t think these are average speed cameras it’s not a particularly long stretch of roadworks and it starts at 50 then down to 40 so I’d say they’re fixed speed

Cameras or no - the speed limit signs are plain enough and there is a string of warnings on the approach. Speed anywhere these days and you are taking a chance.

Your tacho means diddly squat.

I’ve been told something along those lines. They are quick enough to shaft you for hours, regs etc off your tacho. As soon as it comes to defending yourself against a speeding ticket they say it cannot be used as evidence.

the point of the thread is, it has me ā€œspeedingā€ at 49 mph in a 40 limit. but markers 65.3 to 65.7 are in the 50mph limit so i wasnt speeding :unamused:  :grimacing: infact i was doing 49mph in a 50pmh

But the only cameras that are ā€œLiveā€ are in the 40 limit, so if you went 100 mph in the 50 limit, you wouldn’t hear anything because the only cameras that are live in that stretch are the very short (300 meters?) 40mph stretch, as you can tell by the video posted above.

Who is ā€œtheyā€ who say it cannot be used as evidence?

I’d assumed it was set at 8’ so that standard trucks could use it - I know that trailer designs are actually a couple of inches over this but seemed logical to me and I haven’t heard anything yet & our guys use the road every day.

It is classed as secondary evidence. So you need a primary defence and back that up with tacho evidence.
