Best of luck Welshlad, but if she has received a summons, then she is legally obliged to attend court, unless there is an option to plead guilty by post and she takes it…

Failing to do either of these, even if she writes some kind of explanation of the facts as she sees them, will result in an arrest warrant being issued against her. This will likely result in her being held in police custody overnight and then taken before a magistrate.

If she insists that she did not receive the NIP then she has the option to contest the charge but the essential point to grasp is that she must attend court to do this

good luck with the courts

Hope all turns out well with your health

The level of fine/points & Court Costs would also increase as a little lesson in why not to waste the courts time.

It would normally give you some clue as to where the alledged offence took place. If it was in Cardiff and she was definately in that little village with the long name goch goch goch then it is surely a mistake. It may be too late to do anything now though as they seem to be prosecuting her for “failing to provide”

Mistakes do happen and it is possible that another car has the same plates as hers. It also happens due to fraud and people using your number plate.

But Perjury is serious. If she did it, hold her hand up and admit it.

If not then go to court and contest it.

It doesnt matter that you dont want to go to court. most peole don’t

Thanks guys for all your advice on this matter, the wife is adamant she is not going to a court as she has never been in one and dont intend to ever step in front of a judge.

It’s a bit too late for that now. As the Registered Keeper, she has committed an offence by failing to supply the details whether her fault or not. She has to answer that charge. Doesn’t mean she’s guilty but as there has been a Court Summons, she’ll be going to Court whether she likes it or not. If she decides she’s not going, she’ll find herself dragged there in a Police car under arrest eventually.

That’s usually my preferred option, saves on petrol money and parking charges when they kindly give you a lift there.

Hell, if you’re really skint they’ll even give you Full Board for a few weeks!

You mean living in a cramped space, sleeping on a crappy bunk and eating rubbish food? Just like tramping then. :stuck_out_tongue:
