The sign says 50, you keep it below that, end of.
Why below■■? especially not 40 or 45 Do you drive at 20 through a 30 limit■■? If you can’t drive though road works at the legal speed limit then stop driving because you are obviously incapable of driving FFS
I know this is a bit sad but I got out and looked at some of them here and there. Not in a truck though a car.
But been looking at them in road works and I do stick to the speed because of saftey of workers. If you look and there is a gray box at the side of them there are working, if you see so many just sat on a concert block with and can see the tube were the wires come out with nothing in them and no gray box.
Also at night if they are working there will be a flood light looking down on the road so it see your number plate.
If it says 50mph, don’t exceed 50mph especially if they have speed cameras or average speed cameras, that kinda makes sense to me and is what I do …go hang me
When it’s quiet I’ll do 80kmh. But if it’s heavy traffic I slow down to slightly slower than what everyone else is doing. Car drivers have a total inability to maintain a set speed so if they’re trying to do 80kmh too they’ll drift plus or minus 5kmh or so and I end up knocking the cruise off every 10 seconds.
■■■■ that, I like my cruise. If there’s only 1 HGV lane available I’ll go with the flow though. If not then you’re free to overtake me in lane 2.
50 mph on the speedo usually equates to 46 mph actual speed. I tend to use the GPS calibrated speed readout on the sat nav as a true indicator of speed.

Hi, when you are travelling thru roadworks with a 50mph, what speed do you go thru them at?? I tend to cruise at 76 KPH…
You are new to driving, don’t listen to some of the posters here, the sign says 50, you keep below that, no matter what the others tell you to do, it is your license, your career and God forbid the life of some poor sod trying to make a living behind those cones.
How would you lose your license and career by going 50 ? that’s what the sign is telling us we can do.

anybody heard of any who got a ticket thru roadworks speeding? i havent , makes me wonder if they issue tickets
Yes several thousand through the M4 section near the M32 roadworks which were on going
for a year or more, one of them was for about 150 mph if i remember correctly as i posted the article on here.
I’ll try and find it later.
OP, don’t “aim” to do any particular speed or you’ll get yourself into all sorts of bother. Instead why not aim to keep a constant and safe distance to the vehicle in front of you? Trust me, do this and the speed issue will take care of itself.

Not quite, that’s what the sign is telling you is the maximum speed if it is safe to do so
You wouldn’t expect to do 50 mph in thick fog or heavy snow just because the sign says you can.
Driving at that speed in bad conditions etc could be construed as dangerous driving even though you are under the posted limit.
The same would apply in road works.

The speed limit through the roadworks nr Tebay is 40mph, so he was pushing his luck a tad.

There has been plenty reports in the press about how much the roadworks on the M62 have generated in speeding fines.
I myself have had to pay out 120 quid to kirklees police/council this yr for speeding through said roadworks.
I were a driver that thought ‘flat oot’ and ‘crack on’ no matter what the road obstacles and conditions were, always thougbht i was very clever but ya know what…I was dumb and deserve to be serving a ban for continually speeding, especially through roadworks driving on the limiter so close to other people just trying to do their job.
Im just glad that no one got hurt through my driving like a ■■■.
