speed limiter

Do any manufacturers fit a speed limiter that limits your speed? i.e. apply the brakes to restrict the speed rather than just cutting off the power in order to prevent acceleration past the set speed?

My iveco has a built in limiter on a button which can be set at any speed. I’m not sure if it applies the brakes, but it seems to work differently than the usual limiter as it feels different. I’ll have to try it down a hill and see if it prevents over speed of the set limit.

My iveco is set at 52. On overrun the exhaust brake comes on at 55, and it will drop from 12th to 10th

Our trucks are limited to 53 but there is a switch that will turn the cruise control option into a driver specific speed limiter. Say you’re in the roadworks on the M1 you can limit the speed to 49 and the truck will not go faster than 49.

Daf trucks has exhaust brake, that kicks in above the adjusted speed. Not effective on steep downhills.

If the MX engine brake is fitted then it is very effective.

Don’t the Merc Actros have this function too?

It is good to see Daf has done some upgrade on this. I used to drive Morrisons Daf CF85(old cab,Euro5) with reg 57 and 62. Both had run over the adjusted speed on steep downhills.

Yes. New ones with 13 and 14 reg has it, and old ones with 09 reg, that has too.
