I know this is CANADA and not HERE but. I did some work there a while ago and in their highway code is says, being aimed at car drivers " expect heavy vehicles to go faster downhill as this helps them get uphill." Also it makes reference to the fact that as a car driver you should give way to heavy vehicles and basically if you are involved in an accident with one then questions would be raised as to why the car driver didn’t see it. For those of you who have a copy of their highway code and are about to sledge hammer me, i know it’s not word perfect, but you get the gist. Why can’t our authorities recognise the problems we have with gravity and back us up rather than waiting to pounce on us every time the overspeed flashes?

Was it a blue scania by any chance? Might of been one of my colleagues out of guildford?
It was a White and Blue scania on a T Plate though it was a lot newer then a 1999 scania

I was driving northbound on the A3 and passed a Scania Artic just before Hindhead tunnel, once passed the tunnel the road goes down hill, I’m doing about 60/65 as in no particular hurry. Then all of a sudden the scania comes flying past doing close to 70. So I’m interested to know.
Should the limiter stop him from reaching that speed?
Would it show on his Tacho that he reached that speed and could he be prosecuted for it?
was it white, with some light blue stripes? if so, sorry i frightened you.
it does that speed up hill too.
Sometimes you have to let it out of gear at a hill to get past the numpties that do 45mph until they realise you are overtaking them and pick it back up to 56mph again! Silent ninth never hurts to get you out of trouble.

Some vehicles (Volvos) apply the exhaust brake when you hit 60, wether the exhaust brake is switched on or not.
Of course, dipping the clutch would bypass this.My merc applys the exhaust brake when think 2mph past limiter but doesnt do a fat lot down a hill lol
Hiya…same here i was coasting down the hill on the M62 nr brighouse one saturday morning next minute bep bep
and the lorry slowed down…
Theres a gadget on test now… its been used for drivers who have been nicked for speeding…it must work in
conjunction with the sat nav… this can stop the vehical from speeding at any time, it automaticly slows the
vehical down as you entre a restricked zone…IICR it was Skoda who was testing this device about 5 years ago.
its only a matter of time before its standard on all vehicles just like seat belts… air bags… fog lights… heaters…
a passanger seat… disc brakes… wing mirrors… fluid brakes…air brakes…second steer brakes.two windscreen wipers.
anti lock. traction control… diff locks…cross locks…even bloody door locks
god you would’nt think you could bolt so much crap on a vehical
